At just $20, the Chu could very well be your next IEM.

Sounds is not all about how accurate the sound is but how comfortable it is against our preference, in sort our taste.

Imagine that audiophiles using tube amp in which in reality its distorted, but sweet and comfortable.

Fixed cables are a "no go" for me.

Olympus Oms, 20 Jun 2022So, not a phone after all. Thx for proving my point. you still don't understand, majority of comments prove their point, that you have least knowledge of audio here, they are correct.

BTW, high resolution audio players are closest to phone than a desktop pc with sound card, a lot of use mobile system of chip, a lot of them use android os, one phone called onkyo dp-cmx1 is actually a phone with twin dac and both 3.5mm unbalanced and 2.5mm balanced

Olympus Oms, 20 Jun 2022So, not a phone after all. Thx for proving my point. obviously no, i don't use phone to listen to music, i use sony nw-zx300 high resolution audio player, also more than likely sounds better than your 2002 desktop pc with sound card.

Still sennheiser px80 and koss porta pro for traveling and m50x for home relaxing :(

I got a pair for free once and they sound pretty meh to me. I have 3 different KZ models and love them all (ZS5, ZS6 and ZSR). I prefer to have more rumbling bass when just listening, but if I'm actually producing I'd say the ZS6 is the only one of my IEMs would feel comfortable using. Normally I use my 20 year old Sennheiser HD 280 Pros if I produce with headphones. I personally couldn't see myself buying Chus if they don't have a detachable cable at this price.

My bigger problem with headphone reviews in general is that people have huge differences in preference for genres and preferred tuning. I usually listen to bass heavy rap and electronic music. I want to first off hear the low end and second I want to feel its presence in the mix. Accuracy is not really important for just listening. It just needs to be a pleasurable experience. I can understand how this can change depending on an individual's preferred genre and tuning. I just find it misleading to making recommendations based on flat tuning or more accuracy since this is probably not what the average consumer wants.

Their current releases are on par with Chu, such as KZ EDA Balance, EDX Ultra, CRA, CRA+, ESX, and later lyra. However, all of them still can't compete with Blon Bl03 tonality and timbre.

Dude, the year is 2022. Been a while Portable Dac/amps have replaced it.

And phones like LG G / V series and Asus Rogs do sound great.

A good place to start the audiophile journey and know what you want next. But if you already have something better, don't bother. These aren't any giant killers.

I got a pair about a month ago. For 20$ they are hard to beat.

They made my KZ ZS10 Pro's sound like harsh, fatiguing garbage, which is funny because I had liked them previously. The Chu's just have a way more sophisticated, refined sound.

The highs in the track are reproduced in these IEM's nicely, as are the base notes. Everything just sounds pretty close to the way it's supposed to and that is amazing.

Honestly, I think that for most people, these are the only IEM's they'll ever want or need - and at a very low price.

Also worth mentioning is that these Moondrop Chu's are really tiny compared to my KZ's.

For reference; other headphones I own are Audiotechnica M40x's, Phillips SHP-9000's, the aforementioned KZ's and a few Soundpeats TWS's for listening on the move or while doing chores at home when I need to go wireless. Basically, I like cheap, quality audio - and these Chu's fit the bill perfectly.

As for my sources; an Onkyo 9010 amp for the desktop, and/or a Fiio BTR3K Bluetooth amplifier for using my wired headphones wirelessly and as an external DAC for my laptop.

I can't recommend these Moondrop Chu's highly enough if you want audio quality but don't want to spend too much.

I bet you even pay for Tidal Hi-fi subscription, because of the fake quality? Try using a computer with a real sound card, and listen to the quality. Then try your phone, and hear the difference. No, Asus doesn't have real quality sound! But nice try. Now get some knowledge.

Olympus Oms, 20 Jun 2022No phones has a good enough sound card! you should actually listen to it with a high quality earphones/iems (i use astell and kern michelle limited) and judge yourself

So no audiophile can get the full performance of the jack quality. Most of these so-called audiophiles are using on board sound cards on their computers, which is the same low end quality as we have in the phones. And that's exactly the point kids today don't get. Jack on phones isn't top notch quality, no matter what headset used. It's only as good as the sound card. And therefore not that better than digital.
