Grey Wolf, 20 Jun 2022You don't know all the technical details behind this. ... moreAltered on purpose to force Apple's hand? ROFLMAO. What kind of mental gymnastics is this? Oh my god. Are you seriously defending BOE's failure to comply to the agreed contract? They are already AGREED upon it firsthand before any manufacturing even started, and you're saying they changed it because of forcing Apple's hand? Get this, maybe it's because of sheer incompetence, and can't meet the standard or the contract Apple made with them, so they attempt to change it to ease up their difficulty? You never EVER change a design; or anything for that matter while in mid-production just because "I'm the one manufacturing it, go cry about it". It's a surefire way of not getting their business again.

Grey Wolf, 20 Jun 2022You don't know all the technical details behind this. ... moreAh yes, I'm an Apple fanboy and I can't think objectively. Because changing design of a component mid production is totally normal thing a sane manufacturer would do. But I have no clue coz Apple fanboy. DUDE, WHAT!? I'd say the same if Samsung did this, I'd say the same if LG did this mid production you have agreed upon. Imagine manufacturer changing clutch assembly and sending modified one to VW and it wouldn't fit on VW Golf models anymore even though it was agreed for the order that it would. Would you run around screaming I'm a VW fanboy now because I'm defending VW's position here? YOU JUST DON'T MODIFY COMPONENTS MAKING THEM INCOMPATIBLE MID PRODUCTION.

LOL @ at all the angry Samsung fanboys. NOBODY has any details of the detail. What is KNOWN is that BOE snatched a huge chunk of business from the Koreans. Ouch.

Grey Wolf, 20 Jun 2022You don't know all the technical details behind this. ... moreThere was a news previously, this is the main reason behond the 'eviction' at first :)
But I agree with you analogy about battle and war, Apple now seems to have won a battle but in the end, when the production will fail somehow (due to x crisis or something else), they'll need to change the way of their work :P

SShock, 20 Jun 2022Because Samsung didn't go and changed the display pane... moreYou don't know all the technical details behind this. Maybe BOE altered this circuit designs on purpose to force Apple's hand, but maybe they just needed to do this because of other technical reasons.
But then again, you are an Apple fanboy, so you can't think objectively when it comes to Apple. So, in your eyes BOE is the bad guy, no questions asked.

SShock, 20 Jun 2022Lol if you seriously believe that BOE is in ANY position to... moreWhy would Apple demand discount from BOE and not from samsung?
Samsung charges higher prices and has way more to lose. The a,ou t of business between BOE and Apple is small and would not hurt BOE when they sell to many chinese OEMs already.

SShock, 20 Jun 2022Lol if you seriously believe that BOE is in ANY position to... moreI work for a company like Apple. Well, not in the same field, but it has around 50,000 employees in about 50 countries. Let's just say is a big company in the Oil and Gas industry. Do you know how many times our suppliers told us to f**k of because we had high or unusual demands for certain projects? So, suppliers are not at the mercy of companies. Usually is a duet. Sometimes can work, other times the company just has to find another supplier.
Of course, you can say that Apple is one of the biggest company in the smartphone industry. But is not the only one. And BOE can easily find other companies for their displays. So, I doubt that Apple will be too arrogant regarding this situation. They could have force BOE's hand a little, but certainly they didn't do what you said. Otherwise BOE would have just said "Ok, we are nobody's little pet, bye".
So, I am pretty sure, the discussion was not only in one direction. And BOE knew that Apple doesn't have many other choices on the last 100m, so they could have force the hand of Apple too. We will have to wait and see.

Grey Wolf, 20 Jun 2022Probably they did some talking behind closed doors. So, one... moreUh, no. BOE has no standpoint to demand Apple of all companies to accept the changes they did without permission. If BOE can't manufacture it, Apple will just look into other companies that makes displays.

SShock, 20 Jun 2022Lol if you seriously believe that BOE is in ANY position to... moreBro, these people are dumb. They hate the company so much, they spew these stupid non-sense. Who in their right mind for a company to accept a manufacturer to change a SPECIFICATION that they laid out to them? It's just pure manufacturer incompetence if they can't meet the spec having to resort to changing it in their own without permission. These guys most likely haven't stepped into manufacturing, or any job at all; given their responses LOL

The non-pro iPhone 14's are really handicapped, aren't they? They'll be getting an inferior SOC and, now, inferior displays to go along with their existing shortcomings in cameras and build quality, compared to the pro's. Apple seems to be forcing people to fork out the cash to get their premium offerings otherwise they'll feel like second class citizens!

Probably they did some talking behind closed doors. So, one of them had to give it up for the other. Either Apple forced BOE to implement their requirements for the display or BOE said "We will do it in our way and you can be happy with it or find another supplier".
We need to wait and find out what will going to happen.
But either way, the fact that Apple is starting to put more and more differences between regular iPhones and Pro models, is not a good move. They are practically forcing people to buy the more expensive models. And people say they are not copying Samsung, lol.

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2022Take it or production will stopLol if you seriously believe that BOE is in ANY position to give ultimatums to Apple...
It was more like Apple to BOE: We'll keep you as supplier, but you'll give us certain lot of panels with a discount because of your f**kup with displays for iPhone 13. And BOE accepted it, because losing a customer like Apple would be a massive blow for them. That's just the reality of things when you're working with giants like Apple.
