AnonD-731363, 23 Jun 2022"Apple using 8 and 12 Mpix since a very long time and ... more"Man yes and no.
Apple using 8 and 12 since very long time. Reason is very simple apple dont support SD cards and once you fill your disk space you have to delete something.
You havent much choices with apple phone.
More megapixels usualy means more complex photos which cost more disk space so having a 200 mpix on apple with 64GB disk space really makes no sense.
But android phone with a 1TB memory card is something really different."
This argument is a complete waste. The reason for that is that when you use a QB sensor, the final result is a 12MP image at the end, so storage doesn't get affected.
"Yes you are right but then why people bothering with 108 Mpix or 200 or even more???
Makes no sense."
How about you think about it? If you market a 108MP or 200MP camera to the average consumer, they will think more MP= better photo. It's a marketing tool.
"Why Nokia was first to come with 41 Mpix???
Still makes no sense???"
Really 😑
Nokia's reason for 41MP is completely different. At the time it was the best camera for a reason despite having an FSI sensor. They had a regular bayer with a huge sensor size (for a phone) and used downsampling to get digital lossless zoom and it worked really well. Unfortunately, they had a downfall and weren't able to continue working on that tech.
"Why we have cars which we can buy if we want and which go as big as 460 up to 500km/h per hour if no country allows you to go that fast??? For example Buggatti Veyron or Chiron or Koenissag one, Hennessey Venom GT, Shelby Ultimate Aero and many else.
What does not makes sense for you makes sense for others othly that feeling your car or device can do it for example snap to make even 1000 mpix photos for example will makes you buy to have something not many others will have.
Many things in this world, your world, human world makes no sense but the feeling you can litterary do it makes it the way which will decide for you: Yes this is exactly what i want.
Most of your kind most humans thinks this way."
The rest of this is just gibberish.

And about this: Why would they make a 300MP sensor? This is the dumbest idea anyone can think of, the pixels would be extremely tiny to where it wouldn't make sense. Physics is still limited on a phone because its sensor can only get so big. Having that many pixels would be a waste of time.

If you are going to have a high-resolution sensor, 100MP is the max. I would say 50MP is the sweet spot for QB sensors, but that's just me.

SuuperBaka, 22 Jun 2022And you're back on another Sony article to get off too... moreWell yes.
Sony aint bad but if Samsung could brought 200 Mpix to us they should start at 300.
There is no point to make worse (I mean less Mpix ) camera in this megapixel race.
And to correct you i dont bash because i want or must i bash for obvious reason and that the reason of being competitive and better.
Apple using 8 and 12 Mpix since a very long time and it was always excellent.
So someone like me expected a lot more from company as big and as capable as Sony.
But to be more exact and more specific as i always was.
To me there wouldnt and should be only one manufacturer and that the inventor of the cell phones thus Martin Cooper and his Motorola company.
They pioneered first cell phone 50 years ago and 10 years after many others just ciopy and paste instead of making something tottaly new and a lot better.
So again i expected a lot more from Company as big as Sony which brought us many technologies which they copied from others such as TV, Recorders, Hi-Fi etc etc.
I know competition is good for making things cheaper but some companies would never sell cheap only build cheap.

Zuzuz, 21 Jun 2022Sony: will do anything for money! even though the customers... moreWrong, you can clearly make out a difference in linepair resolution from 12 to 64 mp phone pictures under well lit conditions. For medium to lowlight you are right though, let's just say two cameras, one for good light and a fast one that also excells in lowlight would be good. But maybe the binned down 100mp to let's say 20mp will come out quite good, let's just wait until they are available instead of writing them off from the beginning. The most important thing still is sensor size (paired with good glass, of course). Good software/computational photography to complete the package, no question

Sony: will do anything for money! even though the customers don't get much benefits.
1. Larger photodiodes (pixels for average Joe) is more desired than a large number. Less heat, reading speed is higher, less distortion, higher dynamic range, faster focus etc
2. Lenses used in phones are made from plastic and those can't handle higher resolutions anyways.
