PCI Express 7.0 announced with 512GB/s peak bandwidth

22 June 2022
That is for a 16x connection, but even a basic 1x connection offers an impressive 32GB/s. The first PCIe 7.0 hardware is expected around 2027.

Bugger 🤦🏻‍♂️ I think I just go ahead with my Linux PC migration to my AMD PC and then build new PC with PCI 5.0 for my Windows PC 🤷🏻‍♂️

Odd that they would announce PCIE 7.0 five years in advance, but I guess it's to make people and manufacturers say 'oh god'

what games or what do you gonna do with this? running 10 triple A games at same time?

nah, I skip, will wait for PCIe 12.0

I bought X570 platform for some future proofing with PCIe 4.0. Funny thing is, here we're reading about PCIe 7.0 and you have a selection of like 5 SSD's that can even utilize PCIe 4.0 fully and aren't some rubbish tiny 1TB or less drives. If I'll go fast I'll probably go with at least 2TB or 4TB capacity. I've had 2TB SSD for last 6 something years. I never went with M.2 SSD because there just weren't any in 2TB capacity back then. Now you have plenty of 2TB and 4TB M.2 variants, but are almost all PCIe 3.0. Those few that are 4.0 have ridiculous price tags or they are just some XYZ brands.
