It should've come out with android 12 from the box, as it was out several months already when the device was launched. By shipping a phone with an older os, they are saving themselves a full cycle of software updates, over whatever period they choose to support the thing, which is not much to being with. Scummy practice from a shady company. But unfortunately the consumers let them get away with it by purchasing the device anyway. Sad.

Xiaomi intentionally released Redmi Note 11 series with Android 11 out of the box to shorten their software support, most Redmi Note devices gets 2 Android updates, so 11 series Android updates will stop at Android 13, just like 10 series, despite the fact that there is almost a year difference between 10 and 11 series. Shame on Xiaomi.
