I feel like this phone is going to be a flop...the specs are just "ok" for the price and the design is just "fine" so far. NOTHING too amazing. With how competitive the mid range market is, there is a lot of alternatives at similar price points and also a LOT of better phones for just a little bit more money.

The Flip, 29 Jun 2022Pixels had flagship SoCs from Snapdragon 821, 835, 845, and... moreThey had flagship SoCs that always perform about 20/30% worse than any other phone with the same SoC and they had far lower endurance numbers with features that didn't work or took months after to get a feature they promised on the phone (still waiting for face unlock on the 6 pro and it took a month before I got the call assistant to be able to answer calls for me).
They don't have cameras better than Samsung or apple either, the 13 pro/Pro max are actually some of the best with Xiaomi mi 11 ultra, xiaomi 12 and 12 pro, Huawei p50 Pro and probably even Sony now, all have better cameras with better quality, more recording options too (I own a 6 pro and it's on par with Huawei P40 pro except the p40 had better depth handling and better zoom camera plus better depth on the front too with dedicated depth sensor and better recording options like 4k 60 on front, 4k 120fps on back up to 6840fps at 720p or 1080p at 1920fps).
From what I've seen current pixels get 3 years of software updates so same as Samsung, worse than apple and up to now the updates, most have actually broken more things than update them (only cool thing with last update is on start up splash screen it told me about a new app called PO pixel which turns your recorded videos in to a recording soundboard, it broke the picture viewer and my ultrawide though and ultrawide seems to be basically unusable now).

And it had the longest software support among Android. Not until Pixel 5 when you can start calling it mid-range.

It's called "Nothing" because it might not have any ports at all on it maybe? As in not even a USB C port, just wireless everything.

As for flashing for notifications etc it would only really be a party trick to show wow people on nights out.

Oh hey I was right about the black variant - and it looks quite nice. I think both the white and black variants both look good in their own rights - although of course, looks and lights doesn't = an immediate hit.
The leaked specs and price are fine, SD778G+, the cameras and 8GB RAM are good - but you may as well just get a Galaxy A52s or something as that has similar specs at a lower price. The Nothing phone doesn't really offer anything new specs wise.
Yeah, the LED lights on the Nothing phone are neat - but I have a feeling that it's just a gimmick that they will end up removing 4 years/gens from now, making the Nothing phone just another phone (which would be ironic because of their April Fools joke).
I'd be glad to be proven wrong, though.
