Hope Samsung can get back to their pre EUV era(8nm and bigger) with this new GAAFET.

Kangal, 30 Jun 2022Can we for just once, get a chipset that focuses PRIMARILY ... moreI think the overall logic for efficiency is the same as with cars:
You can have a fairly powerful car with like 300 horse power with consumption of 25 liters/100 km during acceleration and 3 liter/ 100 km when you maintain speed on highway
VS
Same car but with 30 horse power motor that consumes 7 liters/100 km when accelerating and 1.5 l/100km when maintaining the speed
The result is , for powerful car it takes 2 seconds to get to 100kmh and then you consume 3 liters/100 so your average is like 3.2 l/100km
While for underpowered card you cant even reach 100kmh so you always accelerating and your consumption is 7 l/100km . Powerful CPU can plow through complex tasks and start idling right away, having sluggish CPU wont help with consumption . Or so I understood at least

Kangal, 30 Jun 2022Can we for just once, get a chipset that focuses PRIMARILY ... moreYou dont understand silicon. The battery life already reaching the maximum now.
You cant just cut the performance of high end chip to 33% and gain triple battery life. Thats not how the efficiency curve work.

Can we for just once, get a chipset that focuses PRIMARILY on "battery life" instead?
...or maybe it's the OEM, so it includes other modules like the Software, Screen, Antennas, Main Board, etc etc.
(Many people are vocal against the typical 0.7-1.4 day battery life, and would be thrilled to get 3.5-5 days battery life, as long as the performance is around the level of the QSD 835 so it is smooth/fluid for AndroidOS and 99% of Apps. For others, they can get that Cortex X1-esque performance at the detriment of weight, noise, heat, and battery life. And can push the limits of a handful of tasks, a handful of games, or running high-end emulators.)

I wish they named chips with actual size but with another defining characteristics. 3nm is another bs just as 4nm and other nm before that. We users only see "10% faster, 20% cooler" etc without any real indicators.

Hector, 30 Jun 2022Oh good more chips to make phones hand warmers for winter..... moreNice, with the high prices for heating in Europe for next winter, I think I will buy 2-3 Samsung phones and it will be cheaper. Lol.

Steve Madden, 30 Jun 2022Every year they reduce power consumption by 20% from last y... moreYou've failed algebra. You can subdue 20% from 1 forever and it will be positive:
1 -> 0.8 -> 0.64 -> 0.51 -> 0.4 -> 0.33 -> 0.26 -> 0.2 -> 0.17 -> 0.13 -> 0.11 -> 0.086 -> 0.069 etc.
Secondly along with power reduction companies are always looking to increase performance as much as possible thus these power savings often turn out to be zero or even negative.
You're laughing at yourself. That's a positive trait.

LIARS!
I've had enough of your lies Crapsung! I've had every single Galaxy S device. Every freakin' year it's the same story. You lie about X amount of better performance and Y amount of better efficiency, but every year it's the same story. Your Crapynox is horrible. You can't even make chips for other companies. Even Snapdragon had to move to TSMC because you're unable to make something that works more than half the time.
No more lag! No more inferior camera! No more inferior battery! No more Crapynox!
So, unless you give us Snapdragon, that means no more Samsung!

more power = more heat

Steve Madden, 30 Jun 2022Every year they reduce power consumption by 20% from last y... morethose figure are power reduction in relation to perfomance.
lets take example snapdragon 800 has around 500 geekbench 5 score and sd 8+ gen 1 has around 4000 score, so if sd 800 consume 3 to 4 watts, you need 8 of them which will consume 24 to 32w to reach sd 8+G1 perfomance. then from that 32W figure, apply those 30% power reduction every year.
