However, Apple doesn't dominate Japan unlike North America and China, perhaps this only further enhances the incredible sales of Pixel, Galaxy and Sharp phones.

iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB was 1120€ on release, now it's 1150€. Prices from Geizhals. If you already have the phone, its value just increased. If you're buying it, it sucks a bit. Oh well.

This type of adjustment is ok if it works both ways and quite a few companies do this. However, companies should also reduce prices is the opposite happens in terms of currency movements

I just noticed yesterday they increased the price of the 2020 M1 MacBook Air by about $100 here in India when the M2 version was announced.

Well, not only Japan and not only iPhones.
In the country I live now (Central European country), they started increasing PS5 prices. Probably other devices too, that I am not aware of.
Like I said in one of my comments, is time to start buying second hand things. Problem is, this action in time will decrease the general quality of products on the market and will create a bigger hole between the upper class and the lower class.

People are making less money, hence the smartphone demand collapsed.
To counter inflation, companies raise the prices?
Should'nt it be the other way around.
