02 July 2022
It's the first smartphone to receive the July 2022 Android security patch.

Back in the day we used to tell people to buy a stock android device, with some of the benefits being the faster software support.

How things really changed for the worse in the last years, with Samsung only upping their game in software support.

Grey Wolf, 02 Jul 2022True, Samsung has the best software update policy right now... moreGood points. I'm not sure but I think that they can handle higher android versions. I factory reset my phone and reinstall windows in my laptop after major updates. My 12 years old laptop runs windows 11 pro well. Funny but true.

Samsung isn't messing about. 48 hours into the new month a non Google branded phone receives a update b4 my pixel 6

Grey Wolf, 02 Jul 2022True, Samsung has the best software update policy right now... moreNot quite on par with Apple (which has 5 guaranteed major OS updates and extra 2 years of security updates only), but Samsung is hands down second closest with 4 years of major OS updates and 1 extra year of security updates only. I still wish they'd fix their silly weeks long seeding of updates which you just don't get with any iPhone ever. If update is out, you get it anywhere in the world if you manually check for an update and that stuff is just out of this world sublime. So much that I'm inclined to buy another iPhone in the future just for that (and longevity of software support). But that's my preference.

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2022Great support from Samsung. Xiaomi Realme and others can... moreTrue, Samsung has the best software update policy right now (on par with Apple and even better than Google's one). Phones like S21, S22 series and Ax3 series like A33, A53 or A73 will receive 4 OS updates and 5 years of security patches. That means a phone like Galaxy A53 will receive Android 16.
Now comes the other side of the coin. Do you really think an average chipset (for 2022 standards) like the Exynos 1280 will perform good on Android 15 or 16? No, it will not. So, the phone will have latest software 4 years from now, but it will be virtual unusable due to outdated and average hardware. Most likely the phone will lag and stutter all the time even for basic tasks.
So keep in mind this things when buying Samsung phones (at least mid-range ones). Don't fall for the longevity of software updates campaign, without thinking if the actual hardware from now will be somehow good 3-4 years in the future.

In my opinion, I would rather have a very good hardware phone now (cheaper than a Samsung) and receive software updates for 2 years. Or even a second hand Samsung flagship phone from 1-2 years ago and keep them for the next 2 years.
Mid-range phones from Samsung are average at best (performance and hardware wise). That is why they put this marketing campaign of software updates, to attract people in buying those average phones.

Great support from Samsung. Xiaomi Realme and others can't stand against of Samsung. My A52 got Android 12 and many security patches long time ago. On the other hand my relatives that have Xiaomi and Realme new models still didn't stuck with Android 11.

Samsung, roll out the Expert RAW for All S and Note Series, from the S20 and Note 20 series onwards, including on the FE Models too.

Samsung should also collaborate with the MotionCam App team, and see whether it's possible to record 10-Bit CinemaDNG RAW on Samsung Smartphones, by also improving the workload. Alternatively, it could improve the 10-bit codec in the HDR10+ itself, with a few bitrate options, and different noise reduction levels. It could come out a better option to ProRes.

I got OneUI 4.1 for my A32 4G about a week ago, and it feels so much better now, no complains.
