Analysts: Galaxy shipments drop 16% in Q2, but chip business brings in increasing profits

05 July 2022
Demand for Samsung chips rose enough to offset the decline in demand for consumer electronics, which will bring higher sales and operating profits than Q2 2021.

The advent of Exynos 1280 in 2022 means more A series will be using Exynos chipsets in 2023. I don't mind Exynos chipsets if Samsung can design them to match Snapdragon equivalents in performance and efficiency, but the way things are, Samsung still has some way to go before catching up to Qualcomm and Mediatek.

Samsung hardware is not good (at least this year wasn't), but their software support is best from all Android manufacturers.
From my point of view, I would rather have a good and reliable software phone with decent hardware, than to have best hardware on paper that gets obsolete by a bad software update.
From the competitors of Samsung, the only ones I like are Realme/OnePlus. But with the transition to ColorOS and so on, the future looks unstable in their case.

Samsung is making great phones. Unlike LG and HTC, it had great after sales. And firmware support (the best).

Samsung needs to keep improving the A Lineup, with plastic bodies, 1-2 generations older Gorilla Glass (or some other glass brand), and 1-2 generations older 800 seriesSnapdragon chips. With a few options for cameras (iltrawide, wide and 3x zoom), Samsung can easily lead the market. Older designs are fine. Samsung should also have Design Contests for young designers to offer new takes on smartphone designs.

TheAlienNextDoor, 05 Jul 2022If only people would wizen up and stop buying year on year ... moreThat's right. They keep removing features all the time, like some sort of tradition it has become in the phone industry

If only people would wizen up and stop buying year on year worse products for a higher price.

Galaxy S5 had literally everything S22 has. Note 4 had literally everything S22 Ultra has. They also had a removable battery, sd card slot, ir blaster, heart rate sensor, headphone jack, and came with a charger and headphones in the box.... FOR HALF THE PRICE or even MORE!!!

They keep taking stuff away and charging more for it.
SOCs keep getting better but perform worse. Literally SD865 performs better than 8gen1 because of overheating and throttling.
Cameras keep getting bigger but (other than lowlight) picture quality hasn't improved since S6.
Every year a new Android update that changes nothing, other than taking stuff away.
Sony even ships their newest piece of crap phone without even a usb cable.

                            WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

$600 to OVER $1000.00 is way too much for a phone when there are other companies offering cheaper THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A TRADE IN.
