Nothing Phone (1) will have in-display fingerprint scanner

07 July 2022
The detail is confirmed in a recent YouTube video and TikTok posted by the company.

Bloatless software that lets you choose your features, and doesn't upload everything to internet, is the best thing to have.

In hardware, I keep a special focus on Camera and music. Performancewise most phones do a great job, no worries there.
For some years, I'll keep my LG G8x, with its dual screen, capable cameras and top notch audio quality. After that, I guess you pointed in the right direction. Yes, the ROG series does get almost everything right, although it is big and heavy which worries me.

But also it all comes to my needs and I'm not really a person who needs top of the line specs. I need my phone to listen to the music, take a photo here and there and use internet. So the chip that comes with it is more than enough for me.

Since you are into hardware I guess Rog phone 6 has top specs?

The perfect, productivity oriented, strong hardware equipped, bloatless Android phone still eludes us, which was my expectation from this phone. Something like a Galaxy Note 10 without Samsung's software on it.
I thought they'll do a genuine thing, something different than rest of crowd.
I guess I'm not going to get a decent replacement for my LG G8x in a long time. I end up buying such rare phones, even my last phone Redmi 2 Prime was last of its kind.

Carl is going by the Apple's rule book but a little bit different (at least now in the beggining). To tech geeks this phone is nothing special but to the masses it will look like cool version of iphone. The price is targeted towards younger generation so you do the math.

And yes, Mi has its fair share of bugs so you're not wrong there as well (my own experience). Same can be said about Realme too, but even if not, atleast they're both bloated OS'es with their own ID login and all.

But my point (again) was, what's the standout thing about Nothing (1)? The original guy said its a fantastic price, but is that all what this is about?
A lot of hype is behind this phone. Once its launched, what will justify all this suspense and drama? Its turning out to be just another phone...

They work in 100% of the times, but they take some extra time to work. And is the same in their Note or S series models. The good part is that Samsung mainly uses Ultrasonic ones, so in very dark environment the display doesn't need to light up to read your finger (like they do in optical ones).
But, if you want the fastest fingerprint scanners, OnePlus and Realme phones have them.

Nothing Phone will support 33w fast charging.. not 45w. This may be the next headline.

In case if it's true, is it still worth for the price?

Go f... morewell, I have a52s and... it's nice but: the fingerprint scanner is abysmal (previous op3 was amazing in that regard) and recently screen / touch started to act odd (camera turning on frequently).

I wonder if this scaner is optical of capactive..

Samath N8 808 owner, 07 Jul 2022Everything is because the hype was huge... so far nothing t... moreI mean their focus is on design. And that's where it stands out. It has "transparent" back with the lights and symmetrical bezels. So far only pixel 5 and galaxy s22 have symmetrical bezeles in the android world. And this one will be the cheapest of them all.
And don't even mention any xiaomi phone cause they all come with the bugs and get them even more with each update IF they even decide to update certain line.

I looked up your phone and it's listed on this page that it costs 560€ so you probably had some deal or it was used one. So 470€ for the base model is not that bad imo.

Upper midranger phones are already available in the price range you mentioned, and if you drop your level to Chinese phones, you're going to get Snapdragon 870 phones at this very price or lower (Mi 11x for example).

I'm an owner of a LG G8x, I have a bloat/ad free, Snapdragon 855 phone with dual screen, 4K60 dual mic+stabilised video recording, very good camera implementation, and world's best audio quality in earphones, in an overall solid setup, alongwith microSD slot with a 512GB Card.
In just $300 (equivalent). Why must I be impressed with Nothing (1) Phone? I'm myself clueless.

Your own post clears it all. All you had to mention is that its competitvely priced. Enough said, I believe?
Obviously, when expectations shatter, its expected... We didn't follow it so long for exclusive accessories, 120Hz screen, some phone case or so.
