nanagdad, 07 Jul 2022Deal Breakers & cons; -side mounted fingerprint scan... moreYeah I agree, a curved screen is so much nicer for gesture navigation.

Also is it just me or is this copying Huawei a bit? Looks like the p50 or nova 9 etc (also the honor 50)

The camera arrangement looks very elegant. 'Zentouch' looks like one of that feature which you may not think muchin the beginning, but may continue to use it after getting used to it. Pretty cool imo.

Vango, 07 Jul 2022The Xiaomi 12X might suit you. 6.28", SD870. Pretty go... moreSadly a chinese phone, not so safe with the work I do (not to mention my work would not even allow it, and I rather do not carry 2 phones anymore, recently got rid of that problem with a dual sim one)

Also for the price Xiaomi sold them for when I was looking for a phone, I could get a S22 over here (now the price of the 12X did drop a lot)

Launch trailer suddenly leaking is impressive

My only option untill now was the S22 but that 3700mAh is a smidge low and this sorts out everything. If I can get this with 12/256 for 700-750 it's a sure buy.

Not bad, but no telephoto once again :(

If this phone gets USB 3.x with Display Out support it's a winner for me.

This is actually really interesting. Asus waited for the 8+ gen 1 before unveiling their lineup. That along with a 300mah bump over the Zenfone 8 should give this pretty decent battery life. Battery life is my only real concern

I love the fact that this has a side mounted fp. They used an in display scanner last year and I hate those. Was waiting for a device with a physical fingerprint and headphone jack to replace my OP6 and this looks really good.

Just hope they give a charger in the box with good speed, and the camera processing is good. Would be very excited to get this.

I wish companies made a high end compact phone, but with a more efficient chip instead.

8 Gen 1 and 8 Gen 1+ are fast and HOT... I rather had them wait a littlebit for a 870 successor.

nanagdad, 07 Jul 2022Deal Breakers & cons; -side mounted fingerprint scan... moreActually a physical FP sensor is a big PRO.

(but it would be better to have on the back instead)

I hate under display scanners, especially when using a glass screen protector which is a must with how big of a scratch magnet Gorilla Glass Victus and it's plus variants are.

And considering how poor the under display FP sensor on the Zenfone 8 was with bare glass (no screen protector), this is a benefit.

Zenfone 9 is looking better than S22. More efficient chip, bigger battery, arguably better camera hardware.

Looks very interesting. I've been longing for a device with a physical fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack to replace my OnePlus 6. They tried the in display fp for the Zenfone 8 but probably weren't happy with it.

Asus was smart to wait for the 8+ Gen 1 before launching their lineup. That with 4300mah and the small screen should give pretty decent battery life.

I just really hope they give a charger in the box with decent charging speeds. Looks pretty good otherwise.

                                    Sounds like a great phone

nanagdad, 07 Jul 2022It's funny how every phone now wants to look like an ... moreBut no one cares about any of that, all while complaining in the exact same breath how Apple copies everyone. lolz

I don't care all that much, I'd just prefer if ASUS had a well defined, better software support. I generally like ASUS. I've had their monitors, motherboards, graphic cards, routers and I've been generally very happy with them and they are really good with software support when it comes to motherboards and routers where they offer updates for many years. But for software on smartphones, they are one of the worst there is. Why? Put in some effort and I'd gladly consider ASUS smartphone too. Instead I don't even remotely consider it because of this. It's always just "looks alright" and then I stop caring about it. I just don't get their reasoning for such horrible support.

Let's hope this time without issues, I know multiple people that got the Zenfone 8 due to it's size and solid price.

But the issues were not funny, especially because Asus their smartphone support is a mess (I asume their smartphones and PC support are separate)
