The Nexus 5 was such a relevant device that sometimes you still see Google references with apps and a Nexus 5 comes out... what a great line the Nexus brand was and how nostalgic when I remember them

I still remember getting the Galaxy Nexus and planning to return it cause it seemed huge. At 135mm, it's tiny by today's standards.

We tend to forget about issues with phones though. The Nexus 5 was lovely, but the battery life was atrocious and the proximity sensor was terrible. I remember accidentally dialling a client and couldn't hangup because the display kept turning off. "Nostalgia is a seductive liar". Haha

Nexus 5 is one of the best phone in 2013 IMO, I don't have it but I like this phone. Starting with Nexus 6 they are going to flagship territory price until today which is become less popular.

Pixel's 3 last security patch revision is Oct '21, even though there was a subsequent update released in early 2022 for bug fixes on Android12, security was still left at Oct '21.

I still remember the feeling of taking the back cover off the Galaxy Nexus.

The problem with Nexus 4 and 5 was that Google still sold them as new until November 2013 and 2014 respectively and then only gave them one OS update and a few patches. Also, the Nexus 4 8GB version was too small to update to newer Android.

So in reality in the early days, Google did not support their devices for long. Not as bad as the OnePlus X which only got 6 months of updates before it was abandoned.

We are fortunate to get 5 years now.

No mention of the Galaxy Nexus which was better than the Nexus 4. Am sad. Samsung's only good contribution to humanity goes unnoticed.

Gist of it is that Google hopped on the profit margin bandwagon like every other manufacturer. Phones are all overpriced, especially if you consider how Samsung and others got away with doubling silicon prices back in 2017 and only faced a measly fine while getting to keep the fixed prices.
