I'm not mad about that though because I feel like snapdragon 865 and 8GB of RAM is gonna be in the territory where android 14 won't run as smoothly as 12 does and 13 will.

The pixel and iphone will BOTH receive 5 years of updates the exact same, and the s22 ultra and Xiaomi will receive 4 years of updates. Even android mid rangers get 3-4 years now.
Btw, only pixels have 13 stable atm, my other 2 android phones got the official android 13 Beta 5 for the s22 ultra and beta 3 for the Xiaomi. Also, to answer your question since we're talking about iOS 15 and 16, the two latest OSes, Android 11 and 12 are on 85% of phones, android 13 stable is only available on one set of phones but by Q2 2023, most android phones, even mid rangers and budget ones will get Android 13 from 12. Most as i said, there are some companies big in Africa that don't give an update or only give you one.

That's not even 10GB. Stop making things up, even if there are extras to download, it won't suddenly be 50GB from this.

I can put thousands of photos and many demanding games to my earlier 64GB iPhone and yet have plenty of free space?
Currently my 128GB iPhone. Used 87GB: videos 152, pictures 4074, apps 180.

Pretending people don't know what capacity is these days is pretty bad excuse when it surrounds us everywhere starting with USB drives which were what everyone was familiar with and everyone has a general grasp of how much you can fit on them. It doesn't require you to be a geek and unless he's 50 years old, he should be familiar with as well. A 20 or 30 year old today not understanding storage capacity is pretty weird if you ask me...

You do know iPhones also have 128GB, 256GB and 512GB options, right? That's like buying a 128GB Android, which is more than iPhone you're claiming is the problem, but will still be too little if user buying it would actually need 256GB... He just bought the wrong capacity for his use. He could have made the same mistake with Android phone.
I'm using a 64GB iPhone because I knew I won't need huge capacity and it's perfectly fine. Especially since I have it always connected to a 2TB cloud where I store all the data anyway so it's irrelevant how much space I have on my phone. And I have tons of apps installed. That's because I knew how much I needed on Android phones and I needed same capacity on iPhone. And it's fine. Blaming Apple for your wrong selection of features or capacity is a bit funny...
