I think Asus should consider a variable periscope lens with two functions (normal wide-angle + telephoto) like Asus Zenfone Zoom. It's okay if they use 1/2.0" sensor on that lens.

salarx, 13 Jul 2022What I'm saying is that flexible OLED costs more, but ... morethat guy dont complain about performance or bla bla bla. they talking about bezel of 2022 flagship phone which still have thicker chin same as cheap phone. the point is why asus not learn from previous zenfone flagship to make the front panel look symmetrical to match the other flagship phone in the market.

YUKI93, 13 Jul 2022As much as I anticipate the new Zenfone, it'd be great... moreSadly that won't be very likely mostly because Asus' mobile division isn't that big. The way they do their mobile business is more like Apple's have like only around 4 models per year. Which is also opposite chinese mobile manufacturers who create a lot of entry-midrange phones where they get their most profits from.

Samie, 13 Jul 2022Asus, why do you always forget country India to release you... moreIndia is not the right market for a phone like this. As someone else said, we believe in, 'the bigger, the better' mindset, and yes the phones like galaxy ultra or iphone max, which are the maxed out in every department including screen size. As an owner of Zenfone 8, I do appreciate it. But it can't compete with likes of Chinese brands. It's also in the mindset of tech youtubers. Companies like Iqoo and Oneplus launch their phone with last gen processor and android version, but the model number is new so no one minds. Asus does the same, but they don't change the model number, and it get a bad PR. So if they had launch with name like Asus 8z Plus or Asus 8z something something edition, they'd be happy to review it. Chinese brands when they delay the launch, they also change the model name and number so that everyone is fooled. That way they can sell old phone for higher price.

Samie, 13 Jul 2022Asus, why do you always forget country India to release you... moreThey don't launch phones there because people from developing countries just buy the biggest phone at the lowest price. Anything else is waste of money to them. So such markets are not feasible for business that sell such kind of expensive phones

Jongjave, 13 Jul 2022he want to show the zenfone 9 have a pros but forget other ... moreWhat I'm saying is that flexible OLED costs more, but also clarifying you can adjust that cost by compromising on other things. That's what nothing did, they went for the good looks here, and compromised on things like processor and what you get in the box.
Asus takes a more practical approach, so even if it's smaller, and with bezels, it'll perform the same as any flagship or better. It might not look as good (Zenfone 8 is not the prettiest phone afterall).
So both companies have their priorities and target audience, but a flagship phone with latest flagship processor will still cost the same as flagship devices, and a midrange phone with midrange processor (but some flagship features) will cost same as any midrange.
Final words, Asus is maybe saving $100 and Nothing spending $100 more, but that just makes a $800 phone cost $700 and $400 phone cost $500, respectively.

As much as I anticipate the new Zenfone, it'd be great if ASUS can make a Lite version with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. I'm pretty sure that there are people out there who want the overall package but aren't interested to have the top-end flagship chipset.

SerginSvg, 13 Jul 2022now u talkin about price per parts? how about the flexible ... moreWhat's your point here? A company can use a 400 series processor, and sell the phone for even less. Sure it will have symmetrical bezels. You can give 2 features from a flagship and rest all from a budget phone, you get a midrange price tag, it's not that hard. It's not impossible for Asus to give Symmetrical bezels, they can give it, but then it'll cost more than their target price, or to keep the price same, they'll have to compromise on something else.
To put it simple, a cheaper phone can definitely have something better than a more expensive phone. But to get that 1 better thing, they'll compromise of 2 things. It you prefer one over the other, it's your choice.
To give another example, Rog Phone costs $1000+ and has even larger bezels on both sides. But it serves a purpose, and the target audience doesn't mind it.

salarx, 13 Jul 2022Nothing Phone uses a midrange processor, and that too from ... morenow u talkin about price per parts? how about the flexible display panel in nothing phone, you said its costlier, the 50mp ultra wide camera price, wireles charging coil? look am not going there because its varies betwen one oem to another. im here talking about display bezel only, which is fact that flagship zenfone 9 have thicker chin bezel, while some midrange phone have symmetrically bezel design. you like zen 9? its ok. good for you.

A telephoto lens would be nice here. In video, ultrawide lenses are used to help stabilization, but that's not needed with this new gimbal system.
