There's no innovation in a folding phone, other than putting a disgusting crease in the middle of the display.

I can bet money that Samsung have never said they have sold tens of millions of flip phones, because that's just isn't truth, not even close c'mon.

Also you don't think the data is correct which i posted? When sales data like that have been wrong? They are usually pretty accurate. Also it's not survey like you think.

But yeah i'm waiting your source which says tens of millions Flip phones been sold 😁

The Flip, 16 Jul 2022I'm surprised more OEMs aren't releasing foldable... moreSony may never make a foldable phone. Currently, the iPhone SE is the best-selling phone in Japan. It seems that when it comes to smartphones, the Japanese prefer small phones, and I don't blame them, I love small pixels like the Pixel 3a (5.6"-147g) and Pixel 5 (6.0"-151g ).
If one day Sony made the "Xperia Flip", it could be exclusive to Japan, like the Xperia Ace series, previously called the Xperia Compact.

AnonD-762416, 16 Jul 2022They sold at least 9 million Z Flips in 2021 alone. It'... moreYour data is so wrong!

"According to a report by analytics firm Omdia, Samsung ruled firmly over the segment, with five entries in the top 11 chart. Of those, the Galaxy Z Flip3 sits way ahead of the pack with 4.6 million units shipped in 2021, versus the 1.1 million Galaxy Z Flip units it shipped in 2020. For the Galaxy Z Fold3, 2021 shipments stood at 2.5 million, versus the 700 thousand Galaxy Z Fold2 shipments in 2020."

The Flip, 16 Jul 2022I'm surprised more OEMs aren't releasing foldable... moreAnd why the hell are you keeping it on Android 9?
                              I think it's like disrespecting #teampixel 🤣

It sounds like you are picky when it comes to Android versions and customization. I read a comment from you where you said you were hesitant to trade your Flip3 for a 4 only if Samsung offered you a good deal. But then you would have to redo everything again.
I think you're right when you say phones can last at least half a decade, but that theory literally only applies to iPhones and Pixels.

According to GSMArena.com's Pixel 3a XL review:

"However, if ever there was a prime example of how misleading benchmark figures can be, the Google Pixel 3a XL is it. We have known for many years for now that when it comes to software optimization, Google's engineers are possibly second to none in the world of Android smartphones. However, we never really had an opportunity to truly appreciate it due to the phones always running flagship processors."

"The level of optimization here is tremendous; it seems Google's engineers have managed to eke out every last bit of power that the Snapdragon 670 is capable of and delivered an experience that at times even outstrips some of the more powerful Android phones out there. Launching apps, scrolling, and multitasking are practically flawless, with the phone flying through every task with ease. There were several times where we totally forgot about the fact that we were using the Pixel 3a XL and not the more powerful Pixel 3 XL."

I use my phone to play video games, play games on emulators, and watch anime. I plan to keep my phone for at least half a decade or maybe more and don't even think about upgrading it.

ps: Google does not pay me for advertising.

I'm surprised more OEMs aren't releasing foldable smartphones like Motorola, Samsung, and Huawei. We still have flip phones but they're the cheap ones. Would love to see Sony make a flip phone since that form factor was popular in Japan for decades.

I'm already in that mindset that I want to use a smartphone for as long as I can. So seeing this news doesn't interest me. I only click on it out of curiosity. I'd read comments from people still using an iPhone 4 or 4S. Only reason it may stop working is the NAND died.

I think we're at the stage in the mobile industry that we really only need to upgrade twice per decade. I still use my Pixel 3 on Android 9 and it still works beautifully. If I wasn't into flip phones, I'd still be using that as my daily driver. My iPhone SE1 still works well for its age. Push for 20 years usage. Forget just 5.

There are some anonymous social media posts. That is it. Out of millions and millions of sold devices. That is nothing. Sure, it isn't fun for those few who breaks a thousand buck device, but considering this is one of the absolute best selling 1k+ devices the last year, the handful of people with issues isn't even a measurable drop in the ocean.

The video is real. It show why it is so hard to break the Z Flip. They threw in the towel after a week and just started dropping it on concrete until they finally broke the display after 16 drops. Because it is made to last for a long time.

That is the reality. Facts. Not your anonymous and faceless random comments.
