AnonD-762416, 16 Jul 2022I'll just post this one here for you, too: https://www... moreThat video means jack $hl7. There's been numerous cases where users would find the screen had cracked along the crease at way fewer # of folds.

I always thought the Flip 3 looks like the Pixel 2 & 3 series with a punch hole. I put it next to my black Pixel 3 and they look almost identical from the back except the Flip 3 has two cameras, is much taller but can fold. The Pixel 3 (2018) copied a lot of the Galaxy S8 (2017).
The Flip 4 will be like the iPhone 13 mini is to the 12 mini. Looks similar but much improved battery life. I'm going to miss the rounded sides of the Flip 3. I won't miss the deep crease although I got used to it after a few days. I hated it initially. Motorola Razr 3's 2800 mAh battery is a major disappointment.

There are tens of millions of Z Flips out in the real world. You will find the odd manufacturing flaws, like with any brand. I've owned both generations of the Z Flip and they are built just as good as that video implies. It is a frigging rock that is made to last for ages.

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2022Hence, the repeated milking of the herd.Yeah, Samsung is the only brand in the world doing annual releases of anything, right? No other markets, product or anything has annual upgrade. Right?
The refinements are in the screen aspect ratio, battery size, display, processor and hinge. The new hinge is probably there as long testing has shown that this bit is the part getting worn out first. Not the display or anything else.

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2022Sounds good on paper, except that it doesn't actually ... moreSounds good on paper, looks good in real life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k86vsQEDKlg
During that week of non-stop folding by MrKeyBrd and his endless line of volunteers they drenched it in a full vacuum cleaner bag of dust and dirt. He kept rubbing and pouring the dirt into the hinge while folding. They buried it a sandbox while they kept folding. They submerged it in ice water while they kept folding. If you watch the long videos, they weren't particularly gentle on the flipping either. They gave up after over 400,000 folds and decided to drop it on concrete until it broke. I think it survived 16 drops, sometimes just throwing it down at that concrete floor, until the display glass eventually cracked.
These Samsung foldables are made to last for ages. If a clumsy owner had done all that in real life, that would be equivalent to 8 years of usage. If a careful and heavy user had done it without that many drops, it was equivalent to nearly 12 years. If a real user and careful, who only flips it about 50 times a day, had used it the same way, that screen would have lasted for over 20 years.
That is why there is a crease. The crease halves the folding tension on the glass, which keeps it well within the margins where there is no tension on the fold.

This trend of flip phones is great, I personally think they are a bit girly, I have seen them popular with girls, especially the Galaxy Z Flip series. I don't think a man looks very masculine answering and hanging up calls while opening and closing his flip phone 🤣

The crease remains to be seen on this one. Maybe they did something about it. And the gap between the sides, when folded

I knew from the renders months ago that the Flip 4 would have sharper sides. It's not the best feeling even with a case. I prefer the more rounded sides of the Flip 3, Pixel 3, LG G5, iPhone 6/6S/7, and HTC One M8.
I've used sharper sides like the HTC One M7, LG V20, and iPhone 4/4S/SE1/12 mini. It's not my preferred choice. It's not a dealbreaker though. My Razr 5G is very sharp on the sides. My Flip 3 feels way better to hold when both are naked. But it's easily resolved with a case.
