Some Nothing phone (1) buyers report green tint display, issues around the selfie camera

18 July 2022
Phones with AMOLED displays are occasionally plagued with green tint issues, this is nothing new, but not a great start for the young company's first phone either.

      Anonymous, 18 Jul 2022Less power for blacks. Same amount for blue, green, red, ... moreWe need more comments like these that tell the truth about displays

      Not the typical OLED is more efficient generalisation.. it's not that simple.. amazing comment right here a breath of fresh air really

      Now if only reviewers would follow your example are bring to the attention this type of nuance

        Refreshing to see a few people that truly understand
        displays.. the quality/performance DEPENDS on the image being shown and the BRIGHTNESS.

        Anyone that makes blanket statements like "OLED is superior to LCD"are just worshippers here is the irony people bash apple users and call them sh ee p s

        The irony is they have to the exact behaviour toward the OLED name

        OLED = Apple logo

        I thought the android space would have the most open minded people that would celebrate variety in specs and technology

            LCD is just... better

            I swear, people feel they MUST build up something because the alternative is admitting they were wrong about something.

            Of course OLED has nicer blacks, but that's not really the point and a singular attribute doesn't claim victory over a whole of advantages.

            No headaches, better price, no weird issues that weren't even present in oled a decade ago (GNex is still the best oled I've ever seen in a phone), no burn in issues worse than plasma which somehow killed that technology but not oled even though plasma also gave us insane refresh rates... oh, and headaches. The only screen technology that truly gives terrible headaches and migraines.

            You can be objective about how beautiful oled is while also understanding it sucks in every other way

                      blue, 18 Jul 2022That was not true even five years ago. This person is just hating on AMOLED because they probably still have LCD/IPS and are comparing to (maybe) phones from 2014. Like you said, they have been superior to LCD/IPS for many years now (5 years in tech is a long time). There's almost no reason to continue using LCD/IPS unless it's a BUDGET device. And that's the perfect place for LCD/IPS.

I am using made in India Samsung phones from past 3 years and I faced not a single issue, Apple makes phones in India so does Mi, Realme and so on. You can blame the quality control of Nothing but you choose to bash the entire industry which proves you're biased.

                                      Anonymous, 18 Jul 2022Don't Oleds consume less power because their blacks ar... morePower consumption does depend on how advanced the display is (that means: newer model year = lower power consumption), and in the case of OLED, it also depends on the content displayed. For example my current 55 inch OLED is rated (by EU) to consume less power than my previous 32 inch age old LCD, but more than any 55 inch LCD from the same era. If you‘re only using Apps in dark mode, the OLED will use less power than a same aged LCD. If you watch content like videos and games as well, then it‘s not as easy to answer.
