Xiaomi 12S Ultra BoM breakdown shows that the 1" sensor isn't as expensive as other components

20 July 2022
That enormous 1" sensor plus the two other Sony sensors on the back cost less than the Snapdragon chipset or the Samsung-made display.

Last time xiaomi is selling at very affordable price. But now the price is equivalent to an iPhone. So what is a selling point now. Consumer pick xiaomi because the price is value for money and equip with the functions almost like iPhone. And now even for the global market for xiaomi is very slow as they always launch those mid-range phone which the spec is nearly the same. Why can't xiaomi follow like other China brand that launch their product to both China and global in the same year. Not just exclusive only for China.

Why of course, there's nothing really expensive about it except being new, CMOS sensors use very mature processes and density is rather limited by photonics than electronics, even FF(IIRC ~9x the size of type-1") have high yield these days. OTOH the latest Snapdragon is indeed state-of-the-art, thanks to TSMC.
