Updating the original Pixel 4a with 5G and offering 5 years of security updates would have been a better product than this. Really annoys me as I urgently need a new phone and would want one I can install CalyxOS or GrapheneOS on it.

Had a Pixel 3 64Gb for 3 years from March 2019 to June 2022 till I've changed it for a brand new OnePlus 10 Pro NE2213 12/256, and I'm seeing the big difference of signal strength having kept the same nano sim and carrier... My previous Pixel 3 was horrendous, I've always had to communicate near my living room 's window 🪟 to hear my interlocutor and now with my 10 Pro even at the bottom of my bedroom with the closed door, i hear very well without any interferences and no need to make her repeat each word...

I don't understand just to make money how can they cheat the customers to such an extent. Before you would get everything with a phone . A compatible charger, ear phones and a decent phone..now the phones are expensive with absolutely nothing in the box..before they ruled out ear phones so tat u spend extra on it. Now they can't even offer an adaptor. I am sure if they were the customers they would never invest lakhs of rupees on a phone which doesn't give them the benefits. But ya to loot others they'll stoop to any extent.. disgusting.

Please test the signal strength and reception on the phone, for your review. It has been widely reported that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have the worst reception of any phone in a very long time (Android Authority has done good reporting on this). They also have problems handing off between wifi and cellular, which require rebooting the phone to resolve.

Apparently, Google focused it's work with the Tensor chipster on the CPUs, but just used an off the shelf modem from Samsung that is not nearly as good as the Qualcomm modems. So there is little Google can do with software updates. It seems to be a hardware problem.

Since the Pixel 6a has the exact same chipset as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, that means it has the same subpar modem. So it would be good to verify if the Pixel 6a suffers from the same receptions problems (there's really no reason to think it won't). Already PC Magazine and Android Police have noted signal issues on the 6a, in their reviews.

Whatever the merits of the Pixel 6a may be, what is the point of a phone that struggles to connect to cellular towers? This is something crucial to analyzed and cover in any review.

Tomy159, 25 Jul 2022Let me say this way, I got pixel 6 pro, I love it, only is... moreMy pixel 6 pro was a disaster and that's being nice. I've had UI glitching and crashing to the point my fingerprint reader wouldn't work, multiple times after multiple updates having WiFi disconnections (I have to open up WiFi settings and let the phone find the WiFi I was already connected to as in I was just using the wifi) or take minutes to connect, same for Bluetooth (sometimes it wouldn't connect to a device it's already known or was currently connected to).

Multiple times on different software versions people just couldn't hear me on the phone, if it was Bluetooth headphones, speaker phone or normal call, I'd have to usually stop mic access in notifications and re enable it. At one point on every call to an iPhone it would randomly make my headphones pull bass at full blast, pulsating at like 100ms (so 10 pulses a second) with incredibly loud white noise.

It sometimes wouldn't work with Google nest/chromecast, had to find work arounds for it to connect or play content to it, same for YouTube, would just glitch out or hard lockup.

Used to take 4 hours for a full charge from 10% on my 66w charger, it wouldn't even accept some cables (was in a hardware store and employee plugged it in a 40w charger and saw after 10 mins it did 2% battery). Sometimes it wouldn't charge or it would take multiple times to plug the lead in for it to finally accept a charge, it would even say it was charging yet not move/lose charge. I could wake up with less battery, it got to a point I was scared to use it because everyday it was always at 20-40% for the entire day and I couldn't leave it on charge because of the unpredictability or literal lack of charging. Took about 3 hours on my wireless 40w charger.

Wouldn't accept my £200 headphones through a physical connection, had a type C to 3.5 cable and once I plugged headphones in it would bring up a help page saying I needed to update my android software... Had the latest software version that I downloaded days before.

These are only half the issues I had with my pixel 6 pro (not included multiple camera problems which most of the time it was with the ultrawide and the colour tones would mess up badly). This also isn't including the face unlock feature not turning up, fingerprint was just slow, had poor battery endurance, overheated doing anything and would actually glitch out while recording 4k video. I could keep going.

You're lucky you got a working 6 pro, you had problems with the visor constantly chipping or dirt getting stuck in the speaker and un able to remove it or all front corners chipping paint doing nothing? I've heard the 6 is actually a well working, good device (speaking to someone when I was trading my 6 pro in and they had the 6 and loved it, was pretty consistent and didn't hear up as much).

stoon, 25 Jul 2022Never buy any phone with resolution over 1080p +++ 1440p... moreMaybe can be true, but experience told me is most likely all processors from Samsung touch them (exynos, tensor, 888, snapdragon 8 G1) they always overheat, OP7, OP7t Pro with 875 never have that issue, samsung note 1-4 best then they start use crap exynos, LG v20 great never have issue, Sony experia I and zx 4 same was great.
Yes batteries drains was always there but not that much like now.
When I switch to fullhd+ and only 60hz thst give me extra 40 min only so not thst big deal.
Not saying you not right just not that big difference in my opinion

If you can find it at a discount, get a pixel 6 instead.

I think this looks a great phone for the price, perfect timing to move on from my now out of support 3aXL. I like that the dimensions are smaller than my 3aXL but the screen is actually a smite larger. I'm used to 60Hz so that don't bother me or 99 percent of consumers (who are not spec obsessed tech nerds who'll notice the difference). The RAM, storage and massive processor upgrades will be welcome. I'll miss the superb rear and convenient fingerprint sensor but heartened that this one seems better than the 6. And camera by all reports is still great, the greatest for this price point, and reportably not that much different in quality from the 6/6 pro.

Google have made the right cuts IMO for this phone to keep the price down. If you don't like the cuts then simply buy another phone that made the cuts in different places. We've got great choices now so don't moan or troll it. And yeah the 6 was discounted recently but now it's not over here (unless you downgrade your buying sources) so it's irrelavent now, plus it's still too big for a lot of people.

as a experienced google smartphone i can just say keep up the good work. pixel 6 android last beta version was a perfect match with 1% problems. had a 3aXL for two years thousand times hitted ground never ever something bad happened. maybe is just luck to me dont know.
