If it's there and you will not use it, why is there a problem? Especially when you don't pay extra money for having it (compared to other phones).
Is like saying having a car with a more powerful engine is useless, just because you know that the speed limit is 80km/h and you will not use it to the maximum. And what if you need one time to use it to the maximum? What then? I tell you what you will say, you will say thank you that you have a more powerful engine.

SShock, 28 Jul 2022MOAR OF EVERYTHING. The usual bragging point of Android fan... more"and I can do pretty much everything just the same on iPhone"
Nope. Android and iOS are far different. Android is a lot better. You can't even set screen off gestures on iOS but Android could do that since ages. Customisation is another plus on Android. And you still wonder why iOS can run on less ram ? Lol. There's really not much to tinker with on an iPhone. But Android is advanced and so it needs ram. Talk about small cars requiring small efficient engines, but SUVs need bigger ones. Because of their capabilities. Okay, kid ? 🙂 Hope that makes it clear, since you're so much into comparing cars with phones, so there's that perfect example for you

Anonym, 28 Jul 2022iPhones are more expensive than Androids, despite having le... moreYeah, only issue is, NO ONE does optimizations if they just expect pools and pools of RAM always being available. It justmakes developers lazy and whole thing just becomes bloated fat and slow thing as whole and then they'll have to scrape the whole thing and start over. If you already optimize your stuff to its peak, you'll always run clean and lean. NO one will ever optimize anything on Android if everyone just keeps throwing more RAM at the "problem".

Just because you cram billion things into a phone doesn't make it better. Also charming that you think you can't do anything with iPhone. I've had Android phones for a decade and I can do pretty much everything just the same on iPhone.

Very few can make actually great engines. Ergo, anyone can just solder more RAM in the phone, but very few can actually make phone run great with little RAM.

SShock, 28 Jul 2022Because it's a lazy approach and a very bad approach l... moreFuel efficiency a flawed analogy. Having more RAM will not adversely affect you in anything other than cost (i.e., "fuel efficiency"/battery runtime is unchanged despite having more RAM), and the funny thing is that cost -- to one and only drawback -- is still in the Android's favor. Furthermore, unlike a car's fuel efficiency, software can be replaced at any time and without disruptive interventions. It's actually a better long-term approach, because those optimizations can be done at any time and deliver extra performance at any time to a wide range of devices. You may call it lazy, but reality shows it's the smart approach when RAM is so cheap.

Boasting about being able to have a ridiculous number of apps open due to having a ridiculous amount of RAM is meaningless when the OS still kills off apps that have been idle for 30 seconds. It's funny that they don't mention that!

Yeah...shame OnePlus makes it impossible to get more than 256GB of storage. This is a pointless combination of RAM/storage. I'd rather spend more on storage; not RAM that never gets past the halfwat mark.
