Samsung's new 'Repair Mode' will keep sensitive data safe while your phone being serviced

Guys, if you don't have repair mode, I have a very awesome idea... Use MicroSD Card!
Put all your photos, videos, life, etc in it and remove it when giving for servicing.
There will be people telling you that its not fast, ignore them, because it is still faster than USB 2.0 that your phone supports (USB2's 480mbps is 60MB/s while memory cards do 75MB/s, real life tested).
But choose an Ultra rated card only, barely $20-100 more than a regular Class 10 card.
But yes, for phone memory, I'm afraid you can't do much. You might have to log out of everything, or use phone managers to backup full app data and then reset phone..
For example, LG had a Phone Bridge app, and I didn't realise it till about few days ago...!

In KSA, your "repair mode" is that any big retailer will say "be informed that we will wipe all your data"
No kidding.

I have been using Multiple Users to keep sensitive data (e.g. Bank app & account) for years, and for running/testing app that I do not wish to give access to my contacts, messages, media and etc.
It's a feature that Samsung needs to restore and Apple needs to add.

This is only a problem for fools who do not backup with either external storage or cloud (someone else's computer) or both.
Better to have multiple backups, however.

imagine defending the removal of features
imagine defending invasive, privacy-absent cloud services that scan your files
imagine being that dumb

Samsung's top priority is money
"We have more money than god" - someone associated with Samsung, along with micron and hynix, as they created a false shortage of silicon and successfully colluded to raise prices, which are still inflated to this day. I wouldn't bat an eye if someone told me the current supposed shortage was the same exact thing. Why stop if they won the first time? Oh, there was like a small fee they had to pay but, that's pocket change.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2022Ok future man, keep supporting anti consumerism for stupid ... moreOk past man, I never supported big corporations removing needed accessories or features from smart devices. I was merely saying wailing won't do shite about it and not like ppl won't stop buying it either... Unless you want to dwell on 2009 device(s). It's a moving train that can't be stopped unless half or almost the population of consumers becomes defiant towards it. So, I'd say it again, if all you do is complain and still spend on the next iterated model then MOVE ON!! Or preferably, stick to past devices and enjoy these removed features :)

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2022That my friend is called privilege, does anyone had access ... moreWell... too bad you don't understand the basic principle of the cloud storage and backup. It's not made for one-time upload, but for continuous and regular operations. Then I don't have to wait for anything, because 99 % of the data is already there. Also the data is backed up on my PC. Having all only in the phone is a danger I'm not willing to risk at all. And in case I need to give my phone for servicing and I have access to it, I simply send the few photos and documents to the cloud.
But... it's boring to explain easy things to some retrograde person.
