And that's one of the many reasons (albeit a smaller one) why I don't use an iPhone or iPad: I don't want to leave inside a burg where the King can decide where I can or cannot go. In the gatekeeper model, the one who pays is the winner, and it's not necessarily the best.

Apple is a bigger company than Samsung. Infact, they could buy Google and Samsung and have change left to buy a new iPad.
Apple also sells more iPhone 5s than Sammy does SGS3s.. again, in the high end, which is the only end Apple services, Apple rapes Samsung.

Why are they paying Apple? Google is so good right? They dont need to pay for iOS customers?
Maybe, if Apple users stop using google, all the people who actually spend money will go too.

If Google is willing to pay that much -- Then I don't mind seeing Apple and Google (and maybe Linux too) working together to create one OS.
i.e. "One OS to rule them all, one OS to find them, one OS to bring them all and in the darkness bind them"
Then they can split it to two ways: an Open Platform to be used on Cheap-Tier Phones, and a Closed Platform for Premium-Tier Phones.
It's prolly a win = win scenario for both companies, and also to their technology. :D

It takes a genius to recognize another one. Google and Apple are pioneers/innovators and always working towards creating better products for the consumers, unlike some CopyCatDung or ShitDung or whatever, stealing others innovations/patents and coming up with a product every other month(Galaxy Grandfather, Galaxy Milkman, Galaxy Busdriver, Galaxy Buffalo, Galaxy this, Galaxy that etc.)

Instead of using google search on ios iPhone users can get an android device which will fetch money for google, so they can develop their search even bigger..
