09 August 2022
Nokia sued over the licensing of two standard-essential patents. Sales in other countries seem unaffected for now.

NickValok, 09 Aug 2022The size of the company has nothing to do with the patents ... moreIt's sad that Chinese companies have gained so much power that they can infringe on patents while still looking like they are in the right to some people (thegreatfanboy).

Patents and technology belong to certain companies and should be paid to use their tech, Oppo wants to not pay them, but still use it, then they get sued.

rizki1, 09 Aug 2022how? Oppo and OnePlus are bigger company than Nokia today. The size of the company has nothing to do with the patents it holds. Nokia was once one of the largest mobile phone manufacturers in the world and holds many telecommunications technology patents. Chinese companies have grown by defying international standard patents and inflating their power in China, and it is time to pay the price.

Please do explain how they are in the right because nothing here indicates that. Clearly, you're the one with the hater mentality.

rizki1, 09 Aug 2022how? Oppo and OnePlus are bigger company than Nokia today.Size is completely irrelevant to the matter. If the patent is valid and you are using its IP, then you have to license it from the patent holder.

rizki1, 09 Aug 2022how? Oppo and OnePlus are bigger company than Nokia today.Being a bigger company means nothing. Nokia owns the patents that Oppo is using and they have to pay Nokia.

Just call it oppo. Only oneplus over it now, is nothing more than a logo. Everything else is oppo.

this was about to happen sooner or later, may be other countries will follow the same

Chinese manufacturers and fans have always argued that "businesses are all safe from patents," which is not true.
The reason why they were able to make and sell phones that were cheap for their performance is that they have always ignored these standard patents. If they want to continue selling smartphones in Europe, they will have to pay a fair fee for the patent.

you have to suffer, 09 Aug 2022are they in the right or the wrong?Oppo are in the right. These are some desperate tactics by Nokia or HMD or whoever to stay relevant because nobody buys their crap phones anymore.
