15 August 2022
Are these the best foldables yet? The best available near you, at least? Or not all that good?

Asd, 15 Aug 2022With the price and vulnerability No. This devices are only ... moreI cannot relate more since I have a Z Flip 5G. Within a year or so, I already see some black liquids that looks like an ink coming from the plastic screen. Never again.

just companies trying to benefit from nostalgia by offering lower grade durability phones at very very high prices, this gimmick will die before 2030, after they couldn't make any profit from them.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2022Playing Genshin impact at 47 fps and overheats? No than... moreall foldables are rubbish at gaming. Unless its if you play 32-bit games. The new fold uses the more efficient sd 8+ gen 1 that is based on tsmc. But even if it uses the tsmc snapdragon version, it will throttle as hell bcos foldables are thinner than a regular smartphone. Check geekerwan's chinese channel and turn on the captions:)

Not with that battery. Unfortunately, until we move to Sodium Ion or Graphene batteries, these won't be good enough.

It'll take at least another 3 years to show me a Fold that I won't accidentally break in 5 months...

I actually sold my Galaxy Fold for an LG V50 with its detachable Dual Screen case. Did I ever regret that decision? No, not even slightly. If anything, I am trying to get an LG V60 with its Dual Screen case. Sorry, but I still can't see the whole appeal of foldable screen phones.

I already joined it on August 27 of last year but only the flip phone/clamshell renaissance. No plans of leaving it. Flip phones are what made me love phones in the first place. From 2004-2007, I only used them. So returning to them last year after a 14-year hiatus was like me coming home. Reaching full circle. Going back to what started it all.

The thing is, I think I'm the only one in my family and even city of 68,000+ people that uses a Razr 5G and Flip 3. I've never seen anybody else out in public ever use one. I've seen one Z Fold owner. It feels kinda lonely but also special. It's like back in 2007-2009 when owning an iPhone. It felt special since only AT&T carried it. Wasn't as common as now.

Each time I search Razr 5G in 2022 on YouTube, only Michael Fisher (Mr. Mobile) and Adam Matlock (Tech Odyssey) show up. Razr 5G got rare coverage. Even that Simple Alpaca doesn't own a foldable. And he has all kinds of iPhones, Galaxies, and Pixels.

Playing Genshin impact at 47 fps and overheats?

No thanks. 8 gen 1 rubbish performance.

Maybe if you are looking for a bragging rights, showoff of the gimmick and crease.. go for it.
