Weekly poll: Will Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 make you join the foldable revolution?

15 August 2022
Are these the best foldables yet? The best available near you, at least? Or not all that good?

The Flip, 15 Aug 2022I'm in a conundrum with phones in general. On one hand... moreThere really does not have to be a contradiction here.
Nothing is preventing you from shutting stuff down on a smartphone after usage.

That is essentially use it as a dumb phone, and open the more fancy stuff if/when you feel the need of it.

For starters turn notification OFF for apps where the information is best in real time without delay. And that is strictly limited to incoming calls. Even incoming sms can for most people wait. BUT it is a balance, if you turn too much off, there is a risk you can not resist checking for new manually...

I use mine with vibration only. And if I'm doing something physical so I easily miss the call or sms, well then it is fine, I will check when I got the time for it.

Lol, you buy uber expensive foldable phones and they does not even come with any accessories or charger. Who will buy this crap? :) Plenty of foldables coming with nice quick charging and chargers in the box, why should I choose Samsung?

I'm in a conundrum with phones in general. On one hand, I really want to switch to a dumb phone. Free my mind from 24/7 distractions. Live in my pre-smartphone era (1999-2007) again where I was probably happier.

Be like Selena Gomez and find out my news from other people instead. My mind can be clearer like Ashton Womack. Can embrace BOREDOM. Time can move slower. It saves tons of money too. T-Mobile offers $10 per month with just texting and calls with 1 GB data.

On the other hand, I have 6 smartphones dating back to 2016 I can still use daily and they work perfectly fine. Technically, 8 smartphones. I forget my Nexus 5 and Xiaomi Mi 3. All unlocked. Why should I just stop using them? Spent so much money.

So maybe I'll use both? Dumb phone revolution mixed with smartphone? Maybe use my smartphone when I really need to? But I'm determined to get that $10 T-Mobile prepaid plan once my Razr 5G is paid off and start from there.

If I use a dumb phone, it actually pushes me to use my laptop more. I'm still addicted going online. But at least I'm not distracted with a smartphone 24/7. I can observe my surroundings better. Then the huge savings no longer having a huge data plan.

The irony is by moving back to a piece of crap phone, your life will actually become more productive. Your mind won't be cluttered with social media garbage. You will no longer waste time arguing with random strangers online. You can learn a meaningful SKILL than just mindlessly scrolling.

AGAIN a silly "How much more than last year do you beat your wife?" poll.

        Missing the crucial.
"Like foldables though current models are not quite there yet, for me"
        (or something similar)

Need another option as a choice : I don't have enough money to spend on that phone.

16:9 foldable for me. Until then...

Asd, 15 Aug 2022With the price and vulnerability No. This devices are only ... moreI totally agree, the screen feels so cheap when i tested Z Flip3 + i don't like the folds anyways because they're not stable yet, not to mention extremely high price. You can get much better devices for these prices.

walkman8, 15 Aug 2022Same. I like the concept and I'm 100% certain that m... moreso, you won't pay 1800$ for them, but willing to pay much, much more?

If their cameras weren't so terrible I'd get one. But my son is an infant and so far the only camera to take clear pics of him while he's moving around is a pixel 6 and pixel 6 pro. Plus Samsung color science on skin tone is cartoonish at best

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2022Where's the "I'm waiting for better foldable... moreSame.
I like the concept and I'm 100% certain that my next phone is going to be a flip/foldable/rollable whatever of these gets the best specs.
But for now they're still too weak spec-wise.
Once they introduce Ultra versions, then color me interested.

I won’t downgrade from a glass screen to a plastic screen.

the flip types are highly unpractical and let's be honest, 80% of its buyers just bought it for the "aesthetic" because its cute ngl.

while the fold are great for productivity, it's folded form is still bulky and its screen is tooooo long etc.

The number 4 vote choice, should be: "I don't like Z Fold4 / Z Flip4" rather than the current choice: "I don't like foldable phones". Because we also like foldable phones, but not on this current body shape, not only on galaxy but also on many brands. We are waiting for the thinner, or maybe revolutionary - @andripams

The folding ones are completely unnecessary. Google has delayed the Pixel Notepad more than once, I wouldn't be surprised if they finally cancel it. Maybe Apple will never release a foldable. I am more interested in the Pixel tablet. It will be the first Android tablet that will be as good as the iPad.

Prefer the book-style foldable myself. The Fold 4 is $1800+ USD which is too expensive for me. Looking at $1200-$1400 USD range. Waiting for the International release of the Oppo Find N Gen.2 and Google's foldable (NotePad).
