Looking at how boring candybar phone these days, also the fact that most of manufacturer still depends on samsung parts to implement new features.
Yes, i believe samsung will lead the new era of smartphone.

But, they haven't really innovated on the size, and it being fixed may be an issue for replacing tablets or laptops, or for more business and creative ventures.

i don't see myself buying one unless the thickness comes down to less than 10mm in folded form. never buying untill its pocket friendly.

They should do a budget version soon. Like, a high-end midrange chip, 1080p, 90hz, Smaller screen, 12mp dual cam, IP x4, 4000mAh battery, 18w charging, dual speaker, plastic unibody and price it at 600$ below.

Fact is Fold&Flip 3 is having issue where its screen protector(which you cannot remove unless you want to void your warranty according to Samsung) is going to need replacement in 7-18 months after using and if you do not do that(first time it will be on warranty) it will break the screen(because air bubbles) and the worst part is that Samsung is not honoring their warranty.
Of course they have probably fixed it with new generation but for those who get burned probably will never buy foldable phone from Samsung anymore and likely will tell all friends and family about their issues.
Foldables and rollables will be the future of smartphones but Samsung is giving very bad name to those because their warranty issues.

-Trix-, 12 Aug 2022I think the fold 4 and flip 4 sales will show the future of... moreHuawei was making a slick foldable that is only 11mm thick and no bigger than a regular phone when folded back in 2019 and those dudes (samsung) struggle to get below 15mm on their brick when folded.
The foldables may be the future only as long as as Samsung isn't making them. Those dudes can't make foldables to save their lives. 4 generations in and it still looks like a proof of concept.
A bit of how we needed a new player to transition to the smartphone Era (Nokia was too making smartphones, but nobody wanted them), maybe we need a new one now too for foldables to ever become mainstream. Legacy phone makers can't build them for sh!t.
Maybe Huawei would be it if they were allowed to operate globally. Btw that's how trade wars hurt everybody, innovation stagnates all the while crony capitalists make big money by shoveling mediocre sh!t on us again and again.
The Z fold line is terrible and hopefully does not represent the future. Foldables can be great if they are made to be slick. Samsung can't do that, hope trade wars end and finally get actual innovation again.

Foldable phones just become mainstream when apple introduce foldable iphone. Apple define where smartphone market will go for sure.

I get the appeal for foldables and I would probably use one, if the plastic foil screens weren't so sensitive.
One bump from your fingernail and the screen has a permanent dent and scratches. I don't even care about the under display cameras or the weird ratios. Just make the inner screen from some sort of actual glass and not some "ultra thin glass" which is basically under the foil.

When did Samsung start smiling marijuana ? The only appealing feature of foldable phones is the form factor. Which a few professional may also find useful. For me they're too heavy, too thick, too expensive and the screen is too fragile.

it should be obvious that when you offer two devices with 1250€ and 1800€ price tags, that you are going to promote the more expensiv one. foldables are never ever going to replace smartphones. samsung just wants to motviate people to spend more money for crappy devices.

Samsung just needs to fine tune a few things, and foldables could completely replace candy bar phones.

I think they can do it, but not in it's current form. They have to make the Fold thinner. The Flip is fine as is.
