NeonHD, 17 Aug 2022Well I think obviously they already know what One UI looks ... moreAgreed on this, but I feel older Samsungs (from 2015) are much better since their UI was much optimized compared to One UI and Samsung experience and had unlock effects (who can't forget the cute sparkling bubbles effect exclusive for S6 and Note5 phones?) That's what made me appreciate stock android more since they ditched their originality and One UI totally looks and feels like a blatant ripoff of Alcatel/TCL's OneTouch UI (it's a bit underrated since not many people use TCL phones, and they seem to be copying each other under the hood)

blue, 16 Aug 2022That's not Google's fault. Buy a phone, not a chi... moreIt is Google's fault. Google is the one that only requiring OEMs to provide mere 2 years of quarterly security patches to get certified (no requirement for OS upgrades). Obviously most will just do the bare minimum. Google can simply set the requirement higher, but they don't.

AnonD-1061512, 16 Aug 2022Not Google fault if Chinese companies rely on quantity not ... moreIt is Google’s fault, because Google only requires OEMs to provide quarterly security patches for 2 years (and no requirement for OS upgrades) to have Google certification. Google is the one that sets the bar so low, that companies only do the minimum required.

Samsung user, 17 Aug 2022Why would someone triggered over someone elses st*pidity.
... moreWell I think obviously they already know what One UI looks like before buying it. Yes they have their own design language, but it's not a very great one imo.
Squircle icon shapes are ugly imo. Lack of matching and/or conflicting colors is unattractive imo.
But generally speaking, One UI as a whole is not actually ugly, especially One UI 4. It's still miles better looking than Touchwiz and has a more coherent design language. I would never complain about One UI if I bought a Samsung phone, but it can't compare to Material You, imo.

Akss, 17 Aug 2022'Apps won't get access to your entire media libra... moreThe question is - do you have control over storage access? Recent releases and Play Store updates have been blocking and throttling storage access for all apps with no workarounds. Maps, databases, photo editors, backups, and file management apps are all dead from blocked or throttled storage. The only workaround is getting them from F-Droid where more app permissions are allowed. That means no more revenue to fund the apps.

You do know that in 1993 WNT was hopelessly insecure, had no support for Internet protocols worth speaking of, and cost a great deal of money?

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2022RIP Android 12, probably the shortest lived OS in Android. It's dead only if it ends support. Just because Android 13 is out doesn't mean that 12 is dead.

This site is full of people who screams and demands multiple years of OS updates, but they are also the one who screams even louder when an actual update is release and claiming that updates only make things worse, and they also actively trying to stay on their current version and do all the thing to block that update.

Another year, another major function - version bump. The OS still lacks tones of fundamental basic functionality. API is nowhere close to the state of NT API that was back in 1993 after just 2 years of development. Yet it just stuck and goes nowhere for years.
