BUT ... security and all the beautiful looks and features aside ... when the most simple carrier connection exist ... a message must get through without the presence of operating system ... just asics to deliver messages ... quick, preferably, planetary-wide

I never liked having that stupid Whatsapp installed on my phone. Why can't they make it work on Windows independently from phones?!

Skylinestar, 18 Aug 2022Americans use SMSSMS is 1980s-1990s technology, designed during an era when mobile phones did not have internet connectivity, when telco-based systems such as fax machines, pagers, landlines were dominant. It seems that people sometimes prefer to stick to older technology technology, whether it's out of habit, convenience, or reluctance to change. I guess SMS is good enough for people who only send basic short texts, and do not need to access their messages on a computer. The greatest irony is that WhatsApp was created in the US, yet it is more popular outside the US.
Modern messaging apps are superior to SMS in several ways. Modern messaging apps are Internet-based rather than Telco-based (using Wi-Fi is cheaper than paying 5¢ for each message sent, no international roaming charges), has no restrictions on text length (one SMS is technically still 160 characters), supports sending of file attachments/videos/photos, supports feature-rich group chats, supports read receipts, supports multiple devices (access on desktops/laptops/tablets).

Anonymous, 19 Aug 2022So glad. Don't need your messages anyways. I have a really cheap text, talk and dataplan. Using WhatsApp saves me paying $0.15 per text.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2022Bring sms then be cool. Number 1Might just be me, but I haven't sent a single SMS in many, many years now. Everything has been done via WhatsApp... Is there a need for SMS, really? I mean, added features are cool and all. Just wondering if that one's really necessary.

Imagine if they let you use the same account on more than one device. That would be revolutionary. Instead they only allow you to use it on one phone and maybe the web if they feel nice.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2022Just another way of collecting desktop users' dataYeah right. Else how to improve?
You want to have fast performance, no bugs, no crashes. Yet you do not want to provide data on how to fix things.
You install Steam to play games on your PC.. and yet you did not accuse steam do you? They also collect data.
You are using Microsoft Windows itself, you think Microsoft collect NO data?
Stop with this conspiracy and fear mongering.
