Anonymous, 17 Aug 2022Chinese phones dominate market. It is Unavoidable Chinese phone sales has been in freefall all year. If it hadn't been for Samsung's growing sales and instead the 20-40% losses your Chinese brands has experienced, we'd been in a global recession already.

I'm no longer wiggin' out over the screen protector starting to peel off from my Flip 3. I just needed the last 2 days to marinate that thought in my mind. It's really not that bad. It's only a small mark on the left side where the crease is. Doesn't really affect viewing. If it's in Flex mode, it wouldn't be a nuisance at all.

The mark will probably get worse over time. Get bigger. Might start developing on the right side. If that's the case, I'll just try to peel the entire thing off. I need to keep remembering that these are just material things. They can still be replaced.

I remember my Sony PSP phat having dead pixels and I just accepted them after a few days. That looked worse to me. Wasn't some lame screen protector. You'll realize as you get older that being OCD over material things will drive you nuts and is a waste of time.

Phones are not getting significant upgrades year on year anymore. They improve one feature and then downgrade something else and consumers are getting wise to it. No need to upgrade so often any more especially with longer update policies too. Bring something really new and people will buy but for now changing the camera from 48mp to 50mp or charging from 33w to 65w is just not enough.

Looks like Apple does not care about how many sub-$200 chinese phones are sold.

Super Android 22, 17 Aug 2022Unfortunately them and apple have made the mobile phone seg... moreI can tell you that Apple might deal the least environmental damage at least in terms of turnover on their phones.
Reason being how most android phones produce like a ton of different models with thousands to millions in quantity. Then there's also the high turnover rates on them meaning people are constantly buying new models at least every 6-12 months.
Then again the mobile market in and of itself has become absurd at the moment with how little upgrades there is each generation also the dumbos that buy new phones every year or new release contribute the most to this dumbness.

It's not even real inflation lol. Companies making record profits and calling it "inflation" is not real inflation lmao. Infinite growth as a company is not sustainable, and they do not understand how to find a sustainable level to maintain. They always want to make more and more money, while reducing the amount of money everyday people have. It's really that simple

                              phones have become boring

My 5 yo s8 still runs fine. Everything after s8/s9's been a downgrade. Apart from 120 hz screen (which increases the power draw massively) and bezel-lesser display (but with that stupid punch hole), everything's been downgraded. Yet the prices are going higher and higher day by day. A pity for everyone with broken or very outdated phones, they have to pay more for downgrades.

                                  It's not the pandemic lol
It's the inflation, it's the weak economy based on everything made in china and money going there to support cheap goods in the western countries so rich people continue to live with their luxuries paying less, it's the housing bubble making poor people spend their entire lives paying high interests to the greedy banks etc
It's a symptomatic disease in the system that's been going on for decades. One day it's gonna burst and it's gonna be ugly.

Given the price of the latest flagship handsets, and the small iterative upgrades all companies churn out nowadays, its no wonder sales numbers have to be revised, then the fact that Android is FAR more competitive and cut throat then apple will ever be simply because there are 24,000 different handsets from 1500 manufacturers globally vs Apple and its 6 different handsets per year, now throw in the rising cost of living and inflation and the world heading deeper into trouble, no wonder people are cutting back on items that are a luxury item, apple are lucky in that respect, because its users will blindly go and buy the latest and greatest every year even though they trickle out iterative upgrades worse then anyone else in the industry
