CLAIM: "The Tensor's advantage, however, is that Google has the freedom to tailor the SoC to its needs. Its camera AI capabilities, for example, are quite impressive and allow the Pixel 6 to offer some advanced features."

REALITY: Any flagship chipset will be able to do those and TSMC made flagship will do those faster while running cooler and using less power. There's nothing special in Tensor for doing those other than hype and gimmicks. Google can't afford Qualcomm TSMC chips (in reality too greedy for more and more profit) that's why they save money getting chips from Samsung. They don't want to use Exynos directly because it'll seriously hurt their image. You see, Google is so
cheap and greedy that before using Tensor they literally only used the midrange 768g chip for 2 years or so.

TSMC is busy making Apple A-series chips and Mediatek chips, so Google has no choice but to get inferior Samsung to manufacture Tensor chips.

Tensor is probably just a rebadged Exynos with a little custom 'machine learning' tricks from Google.

Why can't google choose TSMC chipset? They should have collaborated with Htc for their chipset as well instead of Samsung. At Least Htc made one of the best phones out. Google only got Htc for their design and some software engineers.

I mean, it does kinda match both, Qualcomm's and Apple's high end chipsets, roughly speaking. Issue is, it doesn't exist in this isolated bubble, it's out in the market competing with other brands and given they position and price it like those top products, it is rather disappointing. Especially what they are doing, selling phone with identical name on two different markets (EU and rest of the world) using different chipsets it just makes the thing even worse. It's always like they are ripping someone off and it's not cool.

Samsung should focus on making great midrange chipsets instead of trying to keep up with Qualcomm and Apple. Don't see what's so special about millisecond speed when real world efficiency and great battery life.
