I find him pretentious and self righteous, and when ever he is lecturing about some social issue or other instead of just talking about Apple products I tend to find myself saying 'what a c..k!'
Give the devil his due though, after reading that 'After Steve' book it is clear old Tim certainly has a way with supply logistics, and the policies he introduced at Apple have been widely adopted across industry. In fact this is apparently the main reason Jobs chose him to work and then as his successor at Apple, which don't forget has grown significantly in both size and complexity since Job's days.

It's easy money for manufacturers who roll out pallets of components to a single assembler instead of having to roll 500 small batches to various smaller vendors. Of course they'll prioritize big customers like Apple.

There is no "own version".
If samsung had "own version", then they would not call it LTPO. 🤦🏻♂️
You do not created your own version and keep name someone else uses.
Reason Samsung Semicon uses name Tetracell , not quadbayer like Sony.

Samsung ain't going anywhere anytime soon, even if that were to somehow happen though, Apple would simply rely on the redundancies in those supply chains to make up the difference.

[deleted post]Right. Samsung makes not only displays but also storage, RAM, camera sensors, batteries, processors etc. Sony too, makes a lot of these components that companies like Apple just put into their products

Besides, Samsung is so big at this point, only way it goes belly up is if they seriously mismanage it financially in terms of flip flopping around rules to steal money from it. There is no way it can go that way without any serious mismagnagement/complications. It's this way with all mega corporations. They aren't threatened by anyone else but their own greed.

-Trix-, 30 Aug 2022Why would Apple be doomed? Apple wouldn't even need to... moreApple would not make much money not selling hardware. Apple services without hardware are useless.
And, boy, do you even know what Samsung is? From a chipset to large container vessels and military technology. Even if we only focused on the world of phones, Samsung would still survive if Apple left them. Apple would lose all its position if they left Samsung, because no other company can offer what Samsung can.

Like him or not but Tim Cook is one the most accomplished complex supply chain managers there has ever been, with many of the practices he pioneered being adopted across industry. Samsung going t*ts up would be a nuisance for Apple, it would not be a show stopper.

Another thorn of the iPhone puchasing experience: why on earth is it not possible to map the several display suppliers to spefic models in order to make this more predictable for the customer? A Pro/Max buyer certainly expects the optimal quality the phone was designed for, and this still is SAMSUNG in terms of display. Would not be able to stand it when it was just bad luck that i would have missed an item from the SAMSUNG batch, still having payed the exact same price after all. And having to live with that for the next 4 years or so...

Apple wouldn't even need to sell any iPhone in years and they would do just fine and make more money than anyone else with their phones 😁 without Samsung Apple would just order the parts from different places and build manufacturer places. It's not like they won't have money to do it 😅 They are actually currently doing exactly that, in few years Samsung propably won't make much for Apple and it means big problems for Samsung because Apple is their biggest customer.
