The new PlayStation 5 revision is lighter than the 2021 version

Which in turn was lighter than the launch model. This is for both the Disc and Digital Editions and comes just as Sony prepares to raise prices around the world.

    PS3 Fat and slim have exact same performance. It's a revision, not a newer generation hardware. Fat PS3 had entire PS2 hardware built-in which resulted in perfect compatibility at the cost of making it very expensive to produce.
    Original Xbox BC isn't perfect either since it's not hardware based. Only a limited selection of original Xbox games are backward compatible.

        The PS5 is more "future proof" because it won't be replaced until 2027 with the PS6, or perhaps a PS5 Pro in 2025. The laptop won't die, but it will be replaced by faster AND cheaper alternatives. For instance, if you settled for a late-2021 7nm/Zen3/Vega 2021, it would get easily usurped by an early-2023 5nm/Zen4/RDNA-2 laptop.

        Another point, is the original PS5 model had a stronger cooling system than these slight refreshes. This latest one uses the same chipset (6nm is same as 7nm), it's priced higher, people have less disposable income/inflation, and the cooling system is worse. Overall, it's an inferior buy.

        And the people defending the CPU in the PS4, don't. It was slow of 2013 standards, and it was even slower for the later iterations. Just to give some context, the speed of a single core (AMD Jaguar) was slightly above x7-Z78750 (Intel Atom) cores, which are roughly equal to Cortex-A53. A low-end mobile processor could match the console's CPU performance, and almost everything surpasses it. This wasn't the case with the Xbox 360 CPU, Xbox CPU, PS2 CPU, or even the N64 CPU.

          Ah I heard about that mobile thing in Asia. It kind of makes snese, mobiles these days can run games better than ever but not many global companies take advantage of it. They are practically hand-held consols now.

Most people are in multiplayer gaming anyway. Hell, in Asia where we have inflation, mobile gaming community is 10x bigger than Pc/console. Gaming is luxury, so we adapted.

                      Like SNES with its slow CPU compare to megadrive even pc engine, with optimization, can work wonders, look at PlayStation 4 pro version of visually impressive games such as death stranding, resident evil 2, God of war, Spiderman, dayz gone, horizon zero dawn and compare to pc version with vastly superior specs, to naked eye not much difference in quality

                        I lost interest in gaming after the PS3, I'm not a fan of online gaming. I'm old school get your mates in a room and battle it out. Much more social than playing online to some 10 year old in Venezuela playing GTA online. Also this whole graphics thing is boring, you can't beat retro machines for pure gaming and the difficulty up to 10. I'll stick to real hardware that will outlive all this new consoles as usual. Same with mobile phones they don't make them as good as they used to

                              We just need as customers to stand up to this and stop buying unless most necessary.

                                In Saudi, it is still almost impossible to find a new one below $820 (one controller, no games included)
