The company kept it light on details, but a teaser video confirmed one of the more interesting rumors about the new models.

It's getting fairly ridiculous, to the point that (even here) you see some phones presentations, that blabber on for pages about lenses and apertures and whatnot, with the rest of the specs having one paragraph or such. Some don't even bother mentioning screen or battery size, etc. It's all photo, photo, photo. Big, major yawn.

This phone has got Leica optics ... among other photographic features.

Have you test it ?? I had got a Samsung phone , specifically the Galaxy K Zoom. It took very good photos with a great optical zoom... but in hardware and software it worked poorly: not a single update, random reboots and other things.

Huawei is another world and you have to try it to come and comment here.

Just because it is losing the significance in the global market, you cannot just take away its credit and reallocate it to Apple and Samsung that have always been contributing to severe market stagnation.

yalim, 31 Aug 2022my 2018 galaxy S9 has a variable aperture, too. it is a nice... moreYour S9 does not have a variable aperture, as it is the term referring to an aperture mechanism that has multiple blades to seamlessly open up or close down the iris instead of having only two aperture settings.

Also, AI cannot replace deep DoF. Phones from older generation often had a focus stacking mode, but it seems that nobody is interested in reimplementing it despite that it is much more needed feature due to the increase in sensor size in recent smartphones.

yalim, 31 Aug 2022my 2018 galaxy S9 has a variable aperture, too. it is a nice... moreNot true variable aperture

It can select 2 aperture values in a small range (it was 1.5 and 2.4, a fixed difference of 0.9 stops) and AI stacking was used mostly for HDR (most the ISPs/ AI processing could offer at that time)

Huawei's offering true variable aperture in the range of 2.6 (1.4 to 4
                          0) stops while computational photography nowadays is in use for noise reduction, improving details and sharpness, HDR, low light photography so while variable aperture may sound the same, huawei's implementation could bring about much different results.

we need Huawei in the global market space to keep the mobile division innovative, otherwise you have apple who don't know what innovation is any more even though I use iPhones, Samsung's S series are superior in many ways, but even they are drifting heavily towards small incremental upgrades.
I couldn't care less for 5G because the UK roll out is nothing short of embarrassing and the speeds are pitiful and not like other countries speeds, so would gladly buy a Huawei phone, my home town didn't see 4G for 7 years after roll out.
Huawei pushed many new technologies and ideas and world firsts in the mobile division and had America not crippled them during the trade wars, with unsubstantiated claims, they probably would be by far and away the top selling smartphone manufacturer by units sold (Not profits, that is apple by a loooong way) as they had already temporarily toppled apple, and maybe bordering on samsungs numbers as well, its about time they (under considerations) came back to the market
