I would like apple to announce the iphone 14 series as "a16" chipsets - a number upgrade to lure customers to upgrade, but at the same time, the true a16 chipset should be called the "a16 Pro" for the iPhone Pro series

As regards the question of Mini, I think the most reasonable thing to do would be to merge the SE and Mini lines, and update it every 2 years. The SE design is pretty outdated now and the next SE could use the form factor and design of Iphone 13 mini. Basically, the next Iphone SE could be a mildly update Iphone 13 mini at around $499 price point.
SE and Mini lines combined still account for around 10% of total iphone sales, and it would not make commercial sense to abnadon this space altogether.

That's why they lowered orders for the 12 mini twice while the other models sold strong. They tried again with highly improved battery life which was the no 1 complaint people had and 13 mini still performed miserably. People don't want small phones anymore! Get over it 🤷♂️

I wonder what are the upgrades for Vanilla Iphone 14 compared to Iphone 13. As per reports, chipset is the same, design is the same, display is the same and there is no news about any meaningful camera hardware upgrade. Might as well rename the Iphone 13 as Iphone 14 and sell it at $699. Iphone 14 Max can be launched at $799.

“Small” price hike for US MSRP can mean 20 to 30% price increase in some markets, on top of Apple’s already obligatory 30% markup.
