TrendForce: iPhone 14 price hikes may be smaller than expected

31 August 2022
In fact, the vanilla iPhone 14 may be a bit cheaper than its predecessor - though not as cheap as the mini was.

Design wise, recycled! Nothing is new except for its software. No way to this boring design and outdated.

Mini failed for its size. Even if it was $500, would still be easily outsold by even Max that in some markets cost over $3000 for 1TB option.

People here want small phone, but buy larger ones.
People here want 5 versions of android, but buy new phone every year.

      🤣😂

Why? No price hike is ever going to be justified at this point.
And the mini is still a popular device. Just OBVIOUSLY not as much as the bigger models.
People still very much appreciate the mini offering where as most other companies have forgotten such devices.

What fing spike? The 13 costed 800 the 14 will cost 750

I still hope chipset rumors are untrue. Whole point of iPhones was same chipset in all models. Those minor GPU differences didn't matter much, but generations, that makes quite a difference.

iPhone 14 will sell, but I think everyone is waiting for USB-C and drastic changes in iPhone 15. I laready know for a fact that I won't be buying new one this year. Next year, I'm checking Galaxy S23 with SD 8 Gen2. There are weird shenanigans going on currently about VPN with Google not allowing tracker and ads blocking with them and I'm not happy about that at all and it might be reason I'll actually stick with iPhone and upgrade to 15 next year. We'll see how things unfold. For now, I'll just enjoy iOS 16 on my trusty XR in couple of days. Happy 4th year anniversary!

                            I somehow doubt it though.

That's what I am hoping for. An iPhone 14 with fewer changes but a lower price than its predecessor. They could then still reduce the older phones by 100$ and would have a stronger incentive for upselling from 13 to 14 ("it's only 50$ more to have the newest").
Of course they could also reduce the 13 by 150$ like they did with the XR when the 11 was released, or discontinue the 13 altogether. But the first option would make for a good price ladder.
