Imagine of for example Apple can save $5 by removing the charger.
Considering the amount of devices sold, this would be at least $1 billion saved from costs.
Now sell chargers for $40 (the 20W). Could be more $4 billion at least revenue.
If the math was the real data, Apple could make $5 bi more at least.
This is why they are all doing this. Oh, but it is all for nature !!

If they'd support more than 18W USB-PD nobody could really complain because the charger was NEVER FREE! We always paid for the in-box charger because it's part of the production cost and I prefer not paying for one every time I buy a phone just to have a pile of them sitting in a drawer.
EU should have made USB-PD mandatory together with Type-C.

Vooc only works properly with their chargers. 3rd party ones are capped to 10W.
If you care about fast charging, gonna pay whatever oppo wants.

Oppo is coming to brazilian market in a couple of weeks and with this news, I can imagine most of their upcoming releases won't come with charger. [irony] Fantastic! [/irony]

It's starting to annoy me that slowly every smartphone company is following the footsteps of Apple's controversial choices because they're greedy. However, that won't stop me from buying phones that exclude such features as I can get some chargers or wireless earbuds significantly cheaper than the ones they want me to buy.

There is no reason for a charger in 2022, unless it is some proprietary connector, oh wait...its all standardised, except for apple.
I bought a fast charger several years ago and it serves all my needs better then any stock brick will offer.
