CEO teases Huawei Mate 50 series: exclusive XMAGE system, satellite connectivity

XMAGE is the in-house imaging system that will power the Mate 50 camera. Also, the phones will introduce Harmony OS 3, which will have interesting power-off features.

It appears that this new Mate will have more than 2 aperture settings, though - not to mention that it would be more useful than Samsung's past approach where the sensor was still way too small for the aperture control to make a practical difference in real-life usage.

              This was done way back in 2018 in the S9. It was variable aperture back then and I think it got dropped because the sensor had to handle the change in how lighting arrived + the focus required more work.

                            Really excited about the camera hardware. Since Huawei is making their own custom ISP chip, it should be an interesting battle between the Mate 50/50 Pro and Vivo's V1+ in the X80 Pro alongside Oppo's MariSilicon X in the Find X5 Pro.

                              Huawei really pushed the limits of smartphone imaging. Hopefully, they can raise rhe bar again, creating a new benchmark.

                                  All this wonderful tech from Huawei but here in Australia due to our F####d up previous govt who went running to Trump which lead to Huawei to be banned here. We now cannot get any new EMUI updates that the rest of the world has enjoyed.
