iPhone 14 Pro Max with A16 chipset appears on Geekbench with minimal performance improvement

It looks like the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are not missing out on much.

It's not just brute force and then some whatever OS slapped on top. iOS and their own chipsets are tuned to perfection together. It's not a comparison of sports car to multipurpose car, it's comparison of latest VW Golf R to a regular base VW Golf.

    It is completely wrong comparision.
Apple's chipset works perfect with iOS but if they try to install Android on iPhone then true comparision between chips can be seen.
Also any Android phone can perform better with iOS chipset.
    Why?
Because of optimisation about using resources, memory management, core services.
Android is universal operating system which designed to work with millions of combinations of hardware.
It is not native as IOS, most parts are based on Java but iOS is pure code called Swift.

It is like comparin a sport car against multi purpose vehicle or truck.
With that conditions, Android based phones performs much better with its hardware than iphones.
So, Apple's claims are a bit inflated and exaggerated.
However, until somebody installs android on iphone we cant see the real truth.

I'll probably wait next year for the new 1 v, or this model that might come out November. Sony's new transistor tech and their deal with Qualcomm to improve the imaging, I would rather wait for that to come out.

This is most likely the last resort since it's still a decent phone regardless.

That being said, I hope the chipset isn't such a battery hog when playing games.

Anonymous, 08 Sep 2022I think most of the chipsets offers plenty of power for mos... moreI agree with you,
Its not a big requirement for releasing new chip every year ideally.
i believe releasing a new sim in timespan of 3 or 5 years with some real improvement should be perfect.

but as a business point of view,

why would customer buy a new phone if that only give similar kind of performance as last year's phone ?

i work for Telecom industry, i see customer buying new phone every year just to show off that this comes with new chip better camera, great design & so on.
but what they dont know is its just 5% of improvement whereas, OEMs & chip providers advertise as 20%-30% of improvement xD

sadly industry is stealing from us & we are unable to do anything -_-

trust me, if i was having a power where i can force this OEMs & sim providers then i would have 1st of all kept a standard protocol of keeping basic phone features in all phones like 3.5 audio jack port, sd card slot, to keep charger in the box which support as advertise at the time of phone promo, keep standard usb c cable port for all phones & other electric complianes, to keep UFS storage of UFS 2.2 for midrange phones + UFS 3.1 or above latest version on premium phones.

Inshort, what customer should get and what all feature any kind of smartphone should have is waht i would force if i had power to do so.....

this might sound greedy but its all basic things every customer should get.

and this can improve environmental health + customer service + innovation as well as improvement too.

imagine, after every 3-5 eyars s new chip will be release which means there would be some better improvement for real and because of that time span every OEMs will focus on software & after sale service as well.

instead of wasting materials and harming enviornment more by releasing 10-20 phones in a year which do not even has all basic features they can release 3-5 phones which contains all basic feature as well as can have different storage camera mdodule & so on.

that extra 15 phones are gone for good (As there would be less material usage) so less harm to enviorment even after providering charger in the box.

logically & pratically its better then of what we see now a days in market but sadly no government, court, authoritise take such action -_-

nways, sadly disappointed by apple though am not an apple user but i've been hearing apple is great bring innovations and great things on table but i guess with steve jobs (rip) it all went away.

                    Hemedans, 08 Sep 2022Which midrange can match SD 870 performance?dimensity 1300
(correct me if i am wrong)

I'm calling it now, taking everything into account, this is easily by far the most minimal, and the most disappointing iPhone release ever.

Starting from what's in this article - A16's performance improvement from A15 seems to be marginal at best, negligible at worst - The fact that Apple had to compare A16 to the competition rather than its predecessor during the keynote says it all.

The display on Pro remains largely unchanged, except for the maximum brightness - 2000 nits of maximum brightness is nice, but no word on improved power efficiency whatsoever. On the other hand, the regular iPhone 14 series is yet again stuck with the old 60Hz panel which is getting completely obsolete at this point.

The worst part is, the new cameras on the Pro aren't even much better than those on the predecessor hardware-wise, because guess what, the physical lens aperture size remains largely the same despite the larger sensor.

The refreshed main camera takes in only 14.5% more light compared to the old one, and that's not even considering the 17% wider field of view. The UWA camera now has almost twice the sensor area, but again due to the reduced f-stop, the actual increase in light intake is limited to 31%. The telephoto remains the same as last year and probably continues to struggle in low light unless you use the night mode. Reduced noise in low light is mostly due to the improved image processing pipeline, nothing else.

The "Dynamic Island" is.. ok. The cutout is relatively large by today's standard but it can be somewhat forgiven thanks to the Face ID, and I think Apple did an all right job making it blend with the UI, though it's not that I asked for it because I didn't find the old notch distracting in the first place. But it does make me wonder what Apple will do with the UI and all the APIs they set up for the developers when they decide to tuck all these sensors under the display after several years to make the display distraction-free.

The regular iPhone 14 is like the iPhone 13s - you can only name a few improvements over 1 entire generation - which is a bad thing because iPhone 13 was already like a mildly improved iPhone 12 in the first place. Combining this with the inflation in the price, I can't recommend the smaller iPhone 14 to anyone at all.. IMO its existence is almost entirely meaningless.

I can already tell that Android manufacturers will be releasing much more interesting products next year, so I guess it won't be this iPhone that will replace my aging Huawei P30.
