I enjoy the automation and Dex too much on my Samsung Note phone. There is zero chance the iPhone can swing me over

Switched to iphone last year, never going back to the jungle. 13 is a solid well balanced phone with minor drawbacks but it's a trade-off that you have to be prepared for. I guess it comes to personal preference and needs and for me it just works.

The sudden absolute move to eSim may affect more customers than Apple expects. If somebody gets their cell service from a smaller provider they may not even have the option of moving to eSim. My family uses minimal data so we get 3 lines from Ting for about $50 a month. They can't do eSim because they rent cell capacity from some larger provider. So we are locked out from upgrading to iPhone 14 even if we wanted to. I expect a fair number of people will be in the same boat but Apple doesn't really care because they focus on the huge cell service providers that they are comfortable dealing with.

Kiwi, 11 Sep 2022Probably the iPhone 15 will have USB-C but on the other han... moreI think the removal of the in-box charger happened when they introduced MagSafe. If they remove the ports, customers will have no choice but to buy MagSafe and thus Apple would avoid adopting USB-C.

For United States buyers, I think they're better off getting the iPhone 13 series for cheaper. Same SoC as the non-pro 14s. The removal of a sim tray is a controversial decision that will only get worse once more Android OEMs copies it which will happen like the removal of headphone jack, microSD slot, and charger in the box.

I've seen Razr (2019/4G) go for $200 on eBay. But I never have the urge to get one because my Razr 5G has a sim tray and the 4G model doesn't. I have a sim ejector next to my keys. I'm already used to swapping my sim with my multiple phones. I don't want to deal with this eSim nonsense that's like the old days using CDMA on Verizon or Sprint.

I'm old school. The iPhone that seems to interest more is the SE 2022. A design from 2014 but it has Touch ID which I prefer. The touch gestures are overrated. Can ruin your video watching experience when you want to toggle brightness and volume. And I've used gestures since webOS. SE3 has A15 chip or the same as the non-pro 14s but about $300 cheaper.

The iPhone 14 series is like the 7 series. Removed a very useful feature that will tick off consumers for years to come. The 7 removed headphone jack. The 14 removed sim tray. The 13 series looks to be the last to have a mini model and sim tray for American users.

According to polls, majority of GSMArena followers don't want to do anything with with any iPhone models. It is kinda obvious, most people who are well informed on GSMArena are Android Users. Because Android platform is more competitive, and competition drives the innovation and boldness.

Of course, to those who can afford, like me, it's gonna be another easy buy. I'll go for a Deep Purple 14 Pro Max. iPhones never disappointed me since I first had my hands on a 6S. I was an Android user years ago but when I switched to iPhone, I knew my decision was the best and the right one.

Yes, Apple ecosystem is my bane. Why? Ever since I began developing software (I don't program, I just saw the Apple II and said, this will help kids like me in school, smart but seen as dumb because I could not work a PC. Apple interface on Apple II Mac, Newton, iPad, iPhone, and laptops is far better than PC or Android phones. For me. I get lost in Android. I long for Siri to go back to the drawing board and emerge half as good as Google Assistant. Toddler (Apple) PHD (Google assistant). So to the 14 Pro, is it a fantastic or even mildly amazing upgrade over my 13 Pro? No. Dynamic Island is a brilliant excution of an idea that others may have had however Apple did it perfectly. That is for me my major new tech-play-toy. I'm happy for the lens upgrade, love iOS 16, and continue to hope for an its-been-on-Android-Phones-forever-longer telephoto lens. Maybe my eSim will cause issues in Portugal, I don't know yet. So yes. Apple. Yes, iPhone 14Pro. Whatever phone you choose is the correct one. You're using it.
