Feem, 11 Sep 2022As an American where here iPhones dominate the market, I ge... moreWell if you check smartphone sales on Europe for example, you will see again Samsung and Apple dominating the market as usual.
People obviously dont want to pay(or trust) a fortune on sub brands compared to the established Samsung and Apple.
Asus for example you mention is known for its poor customer/after sales/software support, and the Asus Rog phones arent cheap ones to ignore these factors.

Removing the SIM card is a blatant attempt to limit consumer choice, and the worst part is that all the other manufacturers will copy it like they always do.

First headphone jack, then the notch, after that removal of charger and now removal of physical SIM tray. First they'll all mock Apple for it and then a year later they'll be already adopting it. Who wants to bet both Samsung and Xiaomi will copy this next year or at best, a year after? I just know it'll happen and it'll suuuuuuck.

Just got 13 mini after the presentation. The size is amazing, it's a shame they discontinued it.

Feem, 11 Sep 2022Oh man, 3G?! What if I told you that AT&T already ✨sh... moreWe still have 2G available here in Europe, at least in my country. If all fails, phones can still fallback to basic call functionality that will still function in worst inaccessible locations.

Daemon Targaryen, 11 Sep 2022Only esim for US markets is another terrible idea from Apple.Oh yeah. As an American I got MAD when I found out our iPhone 14s were going to be eSIM only. Yet the rest of the world gets a physical sim.🙎🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
This is the beginning of another ugly trend in smartphones. Mark my words.

I would have gotten the Pro for my wife but they still stuck with Lightning and no fingerprint reader so that's a no.

In short: There is very little innovation from manufacturers each year, so the consumer prefers to keep his old phone for 1 more year if there are hardly any changes, rather than spend more than 1000 euros, and i14 is a good example.

What if I told you that AT&T already ✨shut down✨ their 3G network? Yes, they actually did that 🤣
You can imagine what would happen with many imported phones trying to run on their network 😭
I think they won’t work at all 💀

Hardware's not too bad as usual with Apple. However...iOS is so clumsy, cumbersome and limited, consequently it's still a hard pass.

DaFink, 11 Sep 2022I see what you are saying, but it likely wouldn’t matter in... moreYeah. I’ve also had people told me to import phones, but the biggest, and I mean the BIGGEST problem/con is the supported bandwidths.
America’s bandwidths are so different compared to the rest of the world that any phone that doesn’t support the 5G bands used in our country (I think US 5G band is N71) is not going to work with 5G. Not to mention the greedy carriers that can decide whether or not your phone can run on their network after you pop in the SIM card. The most notorious carriers are AT&T and Verizon. Thankfully I’m on T-Mobile which is better when it comes to imported phones, but still. You never know if they decide that they’ll force you to get your phone through THEM in order to use their services.🙄
I want to import, but it’s really risky and you have to do lots of research. I’m not kidding when I say we’re stuck with Samsungs, Apples, Google Pixels, OnePlus, Budget-version TCLs and Nokias. Yeah we have Asus and Sony, but most people (like 90%!) get their phones in person. People get their phones here from carrier stores. Having stuff in person at the ready is a big deal here. Not to mention I recently had a horrible experience with Amazon recently involving a pricey purchase 😬, so I kind of don’t trust online shopping right now.
I don’t know if most of the world shares the same bandwidths, but you guys are lucky that your imported phones fully work connection-wise. In the US, the phone basically has to be specced for us to work with N71, otherwise the connections are crappy. This is what I mean when I say that we don’t have that many choices in smartphones, especially flagships. They have to have the US bandwidths. Otherwise, you hope your carrier doesn’t disable your imported phone unless you buy a US-market phone through them.

[deleted post]I've had one imported Xiaomi that lacked European bands and I was having really bad time with LTE speeds. So bad that 3G was consistently faster all the time. I also just straight up dismiss everyone who say "just import it from China". No. If you do you'll have terrible experience and I discourage everyone doing so unless you know for a fact that it supports bands used in your country.

Lg is awesome , 11 Sep 2022Notch is still ugly ,that 2x improvement in camera useless... moreI love how you just proclaim how all improvements in camera are useless even though no one has even seen one in action yet and how 2000 nits peak brightness is useless even though you were probably raving about 1500 nits on other phones to no ends this entire time and you put A Bionic chipsets into nothing even though they've been just absolutely crushing all competition for years now. Basically a definition of "how to tell you're an Apple hater without telling it straight".

I live in Europe and the new price tag is ridiculus, despite there is no big change compared to the old ones. Would get one right away if there was a big improvement or at least type c compatibility.
