Ming-Chi Kuo: demand for iPhone 14 Plus weaker than for mini, 14 Pro Max surpasses its predecessor

12 September 2022
Overall, the Pro models are doing better than the two non-Pro models, at least based on this early analysis.

Qqx, 12 Sep 2022Let's be real, that's not a weak selling point. ... moreCharging is usually just an issue with small flagship models. They have small batteries with overpowered power hungry chipsets. If you look at budget phones, most of them run something like Mediatek G88 or G98 chipset and 5000mAh battery. Weak chipset with huge battery and they last for ages.

All the current high end androids have shitty battery life. Samsung 5nm is shit, so snapdragon 8 gen 1 plus is where it's at but there's barely any choice and it will still be shit comparatively to iPhone.

I want to use my phone and install apps. Guides say reduce SoT or uninstall apps. Are they for real?

I've been on Android for a decade, but the situation is getting worse, not better.

And it's not actually about battery life. It's about cpu power usage and efficiency. The iPhone is almost 50% faster in single thread, and to make up for the deficiency Android is pushing their silicon too hard past the energy efficiency optimum. That's why battery drain is even worse than it has to be. Easy to fix, but then the iPhone is almost 60% faster.

So yeah. It's a pretty big deal. I've never been a fan of apple, but charging all the time gets tiresome.

-Trix-, 12 Sep 2022” think Pro models will sell well, but not vanilla models. ... moreMajority of these people are not on the market for a new iPhone at all. They can't afford it so they buy old models and used ones. I see people on the internet who consider buying second-hand 5 year old iP 8 now. Or others complaining 3 year old iP 11 has been discontinued because they were wanted to buy it now when the price drops even further after new releases.

I think Apple is testing the waters here. If the Plus doesnt sells, but the iPhone 13 mini manages to continue moving units over time, then, the mini might become a model that gets updated every 2 years like the SE.

You really need to be stuck with something really ancient that predates even iPhone X series. Only then I can see vanilla iPhone 14 a viable upgrade.

Actually iPhone 14 (non Pro) is the WORST phone Apple released since the iPhone 5C and that is a lot to say.
                                - Same processor of the iPhone 13 Pro
                                - Has less specs than the Pro version and even the old iPhone 13 has the same design.
                                - Has the same cost than the iPhone 13 Pro (if you find it)
                                - The iPhone 13 (vanilla) is more cost effective than the 14.

Sadly the iPhone 14 (non Pro) is the worst release ever seen since the 5C.

I think all the models will sell well, just for the fact that iPhone userbase is so big. Let’s not forget that around 250 million iPhone users are using 3-4 years old iPhone. So even if 14 is not that big upgrade over 13 it still offers a lot of new for lot of people.

i am not trolling and i am not lying, i was holding the phone stable and it wasn't a quick, unfocused snapshot or other bs.
my old mate 20 pro performed extremely better, you could easily see that there was a text and you could easily read about half of the words. that is a phone from 2018. iphone 13 pro max is from 2021. i bought my mate 20 pro at 900€. iphone 13 pro max costs 1300€.

                                      mark my words.

Pro models are doing better because of the long-lasting thirst to escape from the notch.
