Usually when you don't need it it's constantly blinking and when you do need it, you're wrestling with it to turn on. It's dumb. I have AOD without wrist activation and the info is on it at all times no matter the angle or how I hold my hand. I can even glance at it in a stealthy way at a boring meeting instead of obviously waving with hand around to activate it.

as the device is serving your interest, why should it waste battery power (however minute the power consumption and efficient it is when handling AOD)
lift wrist to wake the screen is more than enough

why buy a watch that needs charging all night every night?
both apple and samsung are doing it wrong... After only 30 minutes research you can find a huawei watch that stays charged for a week or more...

Garmin simply cannot complete in all those areas.
On top of that Apple watch have the style, and strap size remain unchanged, so people build up on their strap collections. Much like SWATCH watches.

It was either entirely different watch face for AOD or you couldn't just configure it the way you want it. All Apple Watches since version 5 have fully customizable watch faces that are identical for AOD mode. Maybe that has changed "recently", but it's hard to tell since literally NO reviewer ever bothers to explain that. In the beginning almost no reviewers even mentioned if AOD is available and now no one mentions what kind of AOD is it. Is AOD really that unimportant for everyone? I don't get it. I refused to buy Apple Watch before it got AOD, blank watch is just so silly and useless...

you are going to forget to charge a device that you use everyday, if that device can last you more than 2 days?
I charge my watch every Sunday evening before I sleep, even if it can last 10 days to 2 weeks, never missed charging once

36 hours (60 hours on stingy, errr... low-power mode) is so bad for a rugged style watch
