Xperia phones give everything you need and I'm not a fan of notches punch holes etc. The screen should be left as is. The 3 5mm back is also a great inclusion and off course and SD card support. Sony please don't give in to other manufacturers habits you are doing just fine! Just get your phones out more in other markets!

    The reason why Apple even did the Dynamic Island is because there wasn't really any other ways to integrate the pill AND dot at the current moment.
    (UDCs are still eh, just having the pill and dot with nothing else would've looked bad, and year 5 of the notch's reign would've looked bad.)

    This is just a standard pill with 2 cams inside.

    Unless they did use the screen to seperate the 2 cams... but then it would be 2 dots...
    Or they did do a pill and dot, but then there wouldn't be any Face ID tech in the pill which defeats the purpose of having it be so long.

    If it is a standard pill, they literally could've just put it on the left or right like the other guys did for years - in fact, they were probably going to do that.
    Until Apple spilled the beans, and now it's in the middle. And with that 'Smart Island' leaked, we all know where this is probably heading.

    The only reason why Xiaomi is doing this is because they want those neat notifications and functionality too. If this does well, I wouldn't be surprised if this jumped to their main number series next year too. 13 is an unfortunate number, after all.

    Unless this is just massive coincidence that they have a pill in the middle and did it before Apple, and they aren't doing Smart Island on the Civi 2, but knowing them...

      Kind of shameful. The iPhone 14 is just out and of course another brand tries to imitate a design that is just bad. The pil shape is as horrible as any notch in any shape and regardless of its position on the screen. A dual front camera is useless as well, especially when the used hardware and software fails to do something that would justify it. Humans are dumb. In terms of phones we want it only if it's packed with cameras and other gimmicks, even if useful stuff has to part in sake of cost management (on the wrong things). Weird...

        I am tired of that 'hate' phrase too. My first smartphone was an iPhone 5s in high school when i was 13, i used 6, 7 and X and i am using Samsung S20 Ultra right now. As far as it's a good tech, i am down with it. I love anything tech and we gotta speak the fact.

            I am platform agnostic - I love anything and everything tech. I'm just tired of the same old "Apple never copies" BS. Innovations and inventions are things that happen on top of previous ones, they don't just appear outta nowhere.
