HTC One's camera is no match for the Lumia 920, let alone the Pureview 808. Lumia 920 won the smartphone camera of 2012 at Gizmodo. Take a look at the comparison shots below between HTC One and Lumia 920

For all practical purpose, normally when you take a snap using your mobile is when you are on the move and not in a function, means natural light (generally) which we can say kind of low light. also if you want to have professional photo, use digital slr, i suggest cannon ones as starters

UltraPixel is a buzzword but it works!

Photos are to be compared with both handsets doing their best. Not downscaling or up scaling. It's a different sensor after all. So you judge it by each of their best shots. Taking this to mind HTC One easily outperforms iPhone 5. And that's a fact.

It's a camera on a phone, who really cares, anyone who has used a REAL camera would know that cameras on pones have ways to go, do they serve their intended purpose, yes "to take quick snapshots", but please don't tell me a stock or any professional photographer is going to use a smartphone camera to sell their work. And by the way the HTC ONE has way more detail, as a photographer I see it in certain pictures, first the one with the lady sitting in front of all the green foliage, the shadows and detail is really noticeable,no blown highlights, also in the picture with the statue on that green patch of grass, on the ONE you can see the individual strands of grass and the dots on the small slide have edges like stars, on the iPhone they are missing.

I know there are great world class experts like you out there who spill out jardons like spatting chewing gums. However, for us lay readers, please, comments are meant to help, but not to create confusion, not to mention to show off one's (self-serving) superiority! Thank you, if you could elaborate for us "clueless individuals" who are more confused by your comments than ever!

guys check the original comparison at http://asia.cnet.com/htc-one-vs-iphone-5-camera-shootout-62220556.htm.
If u upscale a 4MP picture to 8MP ,it will obviously lose detail. So GSMARENA atleast make the comparison fair. People kindly check the above link for a better and fair analysis.Dont get fooled by the above comparison.

ultra fail i dont even understand how a company like HTC makes a camera that is worst than iphones.... then its just pointless to make the phone.

HTC One it takes good pictures than iphone 5. don't forget screen and ppl aint the same... so do we only have CNET after all...some reviewers are bias so having different reviewers is much better... people are jealous of the new technology which HTC has brought so they think S4 will be better... who knows they didn't even HTC one? phones are better reviewed in your own way by having your hands on it... now they have to decrease and increase what is that... HTC my brand..

they are comparing the quality of the camera of the htc one with the iphone,if thye reduce the quality of the iphone to match the quality of the htc then surely the iphone is going to look bad or looks exactly the same..in other words we wont know how these 2 cqmeras compare at their highest settings!

did any one notice iphone-5 didn't zoom the image but htc one taken image in zoom and have more detail in dark area and also have more focous power i gess it's not compared clearly.cause htc never lie to costumer even G-five have 8mp but it doesnt work well than nokia super nova.so they show the truth.mega pixel is for only zoom and thin phone doesnt have lossless zoom like canon or nokia 808.htc is great.

Why would you upconvert the One pictures as it would ruin the quality?! why not just change the setting on the i5 to take 4mp pictures?

Much more details and real life colors in htc's shot. It is obvious in lady's face. Compare parts of pictures that both focused. htc has f2.0 a faster lens than iphone5(f2.4)so focusing range is narrower.
