AnonD-101525, 24 Feb 2013Dear Duel,
I just downloaded all three pictures of 808, ht... moreI don't think you can be a professional photographer with a 808. Honestly. For professional photography 808 lacks the following: exchangeable lenses, variable aperture(for the bookeh effect), hotshoe for a pro flash, possibility to use a tripod, etc, etc.
So please stop making a fool of yourself!

most of the camera phones are used in indoor settings like restaurents, parties, weddings where lightening conditions are far less than ideal....that's where 920 and htc one will come into play and ip5 and Samsung fails........

This is really sad.
I was sure in HTC One we sacrifice precious megapixels (4 MP vs. 8-13 MP in todays phones) for an excellent, unmatched picture quality. I was hoping that HTC will join Nokia as a company which makes real innovation in mobile imaging area.
But these test results are clear: there's no sense to decrease the number of megapixels available to a third of other smartphones because it gives you nothing. It would be better for HTC to just put the 13 MP RS in. And even if this wasn't the final hardware it doesn't matter because you can't change the quality of the image dramatically with software tweaks.

this was pathetic why resize a 4mp image to a 8mp resolution ,this will obviuosly result in loss of quality the htc one have a 4mp camera and please get us 4mp images only

AnonD-116696, 24 Feb 2013I don't know what you guy have been doing to the photos on ... moreYeah I agree with you. When you check the review from CNET Asia where these photos came from, the overall quality is better on H-One.
But we still need more photos for comparison, we just have to wait for other reviewers.

It's not fair by comparing this way. Of course there must be some disadvantage by downsizing megapixels if you always want to crop your pictures like this. However, you should consider other advantages that htc ONE came with.
I can just say that you shouldn't buy htc ONE if you always want to crop your pictures like this and print out your pictures bigger than 8*10 (actually you can print out bigger than that).
You should buy htc ONE if you have limited data plan.
You should buy htc ONE if you don't want extra works to resize your pictures by app or Paint (PhotoShop).
You should buy htc ONE if you want "much better/nature(sometimes LED flash won't help)" pictures indoor or under dim lights (especially most people hang out with their friends after their works -after evening).
htc ONE can take pretty decent pictures during daytime (by the standard of smartphones, not DC) without cropping pictures like this.
Don't forget there are many places and special moments don't allow people to take pictures with LED flash lights. ex. museums, shows, nocturnal animal areas in zoos , school performances, bars (taking hot girls' pictures without notice and annoying flash lights). Go see those pictures took under dim lights by htc ONE. Its’ pictures are much much better than others (smartphones).
I never try to print out my pictures in my phone. If I do, I will only print them in 4*6 (actually you can print it out bigger).
I remember that I was very happy with my 3 megapixels Nikon DC Coolpix 3200. I never buy another DC till someone gave me another DC as a gift. I used my 5 megapixels smartphone to record my life for long time. I'm still happy with that.
I haven't upgraded my phone for long time and the reason I want to buy a new one because of the CPU and ram (for bigger and more apps), not because of camera. Don't even mention its' Zoe, F2.0 28mm lens, Imagechip, OIS, 1080p Full HD video, HDR video, and more.
If you want to print out super-size pictures and crop your picture like this, you should buy a Nikon professional DC.

Gsmarena guys copied the images from CNET Asia. And drew their own conclusion.Clearly iphone 5 images are over saturated. HTC one is the clear winner in the original comparison. Here is the original comparison http://asia.cnet.com/htc-one-vs-iphone-5-camera-shootout-62220556.htm

the idea of the HTC one's ultra pixels is that it's more sensitive to light providing less blurry pictures when in places where there is light. the HTC decided to sacrifice pixels for this saying that the pixels aren't that important. all the shots in this review used static subjects so it would not be able to test htc's claims about light sensitivity. this does kinda show that the 8mp from an iPhone is similar to an up converted 5mp camera in some cases.

This is just a resolution comparsion rather than cameras comparsion. Things such as the color accuracy, noise, and the dynamic range were not compared.
However, looking at the samples, I prefer the ones of the HTC.

GUYS! Calm down! Read the review again. GSMArena says right at the beginning that the shots are not ideal and should have had same exposure and framing. That's a less harsh way of saying that the comparison is not exactly fair.
Then come the things I didn't like so much:
1) The One's photo was upsized to 8MP by post process sharpening and still it has noise levels almost same as iphone 5 is a feat on its own. The One's photos arent meant to be upsized and oversharpened.
2) There was barely a scene where contrasts could be compared to see how the two handled light without HDR.
3) Still camera performance is only half of the equation.
4) The main thing. The One has not been released. What CNET got was a pre-production unit and wasnt running final firmware.
5) Colour reproduction is more natural in One
