Samsung Galaxy Xcover6 Pro scores high repairability rating in disassembly video

26 September 2022
Battery replacement is one of the most common repairs and thanks to the a user-accessible battery it can be done in a minute with no tools.

"Of course, at 9.9mm and 235g, the Galaxy Xcover6 Pro is thicker and heavier than most phones with 6.6” displays and 4,050mAh batteries out there, so this repair-friendly design comes with some compromises."

It is actually thinner than many current flagships if measured honestly, at the camera bump. Galaxy S22 and iPhone 13/14 are well over a centimeter thick.

Much respect for them making the non-battery innards repairable too.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2022IP68 is easily doable, with a simple rubber seal. Then wh... moreSamsung even now seals up battery on their budget devices which they never did a couple years ago that had easily removable/replaceable batteries. Heck I still have a Grand Duos working till now just repaced in new batteries to get it going mainly as a basic phone now since apps are bloated nowadays.

Your run of the mill Xiaomi/Samsung/Apple Glass titanic phones weight almost the same and are probably only 1mm slimmer (which is basically nothing), and still can't offer the same flexibility.

Kudos to Samsung for maintaining this line alive. They only need to add OIS and it will be as great as it can be.

Where are know those saying "everything is glued for IP rating" or "you can't have IP rating and replaceable battery"?

Then why the hell are all the other phones glued?
Because those greedy manufacturers want more of your money.
Phones are glued shut, parts unavailable, their software paired and locked. Only the manufacturer can really repair it without issues. And they control repair costs.

Sadly, most of the people don't care. They'll ditch their phone after 2 years anyway.
