But after the last 2, I will gladly take the 9th.
It just feels bloaty, oddly enough. I don't know how to describe it, but I find myself avoiding using my iPad because of it.

All depends on processing and optics, which is already great on xiaomi. Getting full res on that was mission impossible for Motorola, hi res were good tho. In Xiaomi case, hi res from their cameras are good enough, to move to higher specs, it should improve...

But my hand holding phone is same as 25 years ago.
I assume you was not 25 years ago even born while I was already using mobile phones, judging by such dumb comment of some kid which can't afford dedicated device for watching movies or playing games and consume everything on small phone/tablet screen.

Monitors are bigger in both height and width therefore content is proportionaly bigger, but phones are getting just taller with few milimeters width difference so content size is almost identical, only benefit is seeing next content while scrolling. I put my 5.2 phone next to 6.5, there is almost no difference in reading/video watching. Small 16:9 phone uses his full screen and long phone gets black bars...And dont tell me about zoom in and streching video on long phone cause thats trash and you dont see alot of parts of content.
