Yea I’ve had only bad experiences with Media Tek devices… I’d rather have a Qualcomm as over the last 3 years I’ve found their performance to be more consistent overall…

For me Asus Rog phone I just don't consider too be the best gaming smartphone
As I think Lenovo legion or Nubia red magic phones are the best because I think a true gaming smartphone should have built-in fans

Dimensity 9000+ Vs Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
There's a clear winner but it's not because of the processor at all
But it's because ASU Rog 6 ultimate has 18gb ram but ASU Rog ultimate 6d only has 16gb ram
Otherwise
It's hard too say if mediatek or Snapdragon processors is better both look so evenly matched and trade blows
Snapdragon got the higher ram amount it got paired with so Snapdragon wins

Yeah, Mediatek phones have MUCH POORER app support and optimization than equivalent Qualcomm phones. That's probably why the people had a lukewarm reception to it.
I mean, TheRelaxingEnd on his YouTube tried to play Fortnite on the ROG 6D, and it was capped at 30FPS High and ran badly! The Black Shark 5 Pro, which has the 8 Gen 1, can do 90FPS EASILY; the Flip4, which is not a gaming phone, could handle 60FPS with best graphics easily as well!

S Yu, 02 Oct 2022Seems that its standby is bad enough that the better effici... moreprobabbly because middle core A710 and small core A510 in Dimensity 9000 are inefficient, if you look at Geekerwan video which he talk about soc;, A510 in D9000 consume around 1 to 2watts, those core are the one responsible for standby and small task but they are so power hungry.
also i saw some video (in chinese) from same youtuber Geekerwan, he was reviewing redmi K50 series with D8100 and D9000 memory controller in these soc were broken, they constantly run Ram at higher frequencies even in standby, he had to root and adjust them.

In PC gaming as long as you go mobile you need be prepared to spend quite a lot. Midrange like 3060 or worse don't even run games with the best graphics at top settings, much less be future proof.

Dimensity weakness :
Gpu does not support VRS
Driver is not flexible as snapdragon that can use gpu driver attachment inside your application to run
With newer driver and addedd VRS support performance will be a lot better on snapdragon

SShock, 02 Oct 2022Anyone who was already interested in buying a ROG Phone alr... moreWell if they would of release the SD 8+ gen 1 on the same time with the Dimensity 9000 and the Mediatek be like 100 plus euro cheaper then there be probably a lot who take the cheaper one. In the end of the day at these 1M points in antutu it dont really matter when most of the games in the market are fine with 200k antutu score phones to run on 30fps and some of them even 60 or higher. Already at 300-400k all games are stable at 60 fps and games like call of duty or pubg and the like dont really need more to run 90-120fps
Basically everything that is over 500k makes no difference much even in long run as the games cant update to a point in 5 years or so where they lose support on 200k point users as they lose out on customers who still make them money from ads and so on and they are not willing or cant afford to buy new phones for just gaming

Hel... moreThe reason Mediatek and Exynos are worse for gaming is Mali gpu, same Gpu you can find it in Kirin.
So kirin, Exynos and Mediatek are tier below snapdragon atleast in gaming.

Also both 8+G1 and D9000 are power hungry soc, the only reason they have better battery life they follow Samsung path and throttle their phone. Just check Gsmarena throttling test, it throttle to 54% under normal usage and when it doesnt throttle (X mode) it became so hot to the point it unpleasant to touch.

Gimmicky gimmick with glittery shiny back and useless back display.
I'd rather have the 3.5mm jack and the SD card slot instead of that useless display anytime.
Also, I've heard that the update service from Asus sux, which is the most important thing after buying a phone.
