Ok, 29 Sep 2022Hi., maybe google wants some of that sweet market share and... moreMarket share without making tons of money is useless.
If google is selling hardware, it is because they want to make good money with it.
They already make tons of money with sales of other OEMs.

Nobody never knows how much sales are gonna be, this is why price is set way above costs. Nobody prices products at low margin.

Anonymous, 29 Sep 2022Buggy software and weaker hardware is all you get. Wait for... moreyou should wait for Pixel 8 Pro and then wait for S24, etc.

0odle-noodle, 29 Sep 2022pixels have always been so good, especially considering the... moreI've just owned a pixel 6 pro, it's boring, buggy, bad hardware, bad battery, good main camera (I mean not exceptional, was on par with my P40 pro and worse in a lot of ways) but the rest are awful (ultrawide is awful) , good speakers and bad build quality (build quality is awful on 6 series, even I have a lot seen in stores the visor is full of chips and missing paint).

This has been the pixel series since the 3 (the A series seem to be the most stable and decent but its because usually mid range SD chip and the price). Every year the pixels had the flagship SD chip they performed weaker than the competition by quite a lot and had worse battery, most the unique features they came with didn't work and the devices were riddled with bugs (like on the 6 series). They also drop features after 1 generation of their phones.

No idea how you think they "are a way to express yourself" they are the most boring android devices you can buy. They are trying to be iPhone except they somehow give one of the worst android experiences you can have vs all other top makers (my find X5 runs even Google apps better than my pixel 6 pro did). 10 mins after trading my 6 pro in for my find X5 I enjoyed using my phone again and like the customisation you can do plus the better Google and android experience I was having (and you know, useable battery life, like an extra 5-8 hours screen on time more and my find X5 takes 35 mins to charge full with the included 80w charger, 6 pro took 2-4 hours on my already owned 66w charger and came with just a type C to type C cable).

Pixels are a joke, they should stick to just A series and continue like nokia and HTC, budget phone makers.

But it is r... moreHi., maybe google wants some of that sweet market share and has so much money from their other services? On the German google shop website you can get 175€ for an IPhone 7 that is pretty scratched up in trade in value for the pixel 6a with comparable deals in the US, though only with IPhones while also can do trade in Android phones on the german google store ( probably on other european google stores). That's pretty much a proof , that rn google doesn't really care that much about high profits but getting more pixel users and more profits on the long run. Also Apple is addicted to making high profits
because they want to get the most valuable company again lol.

I'll wait for the google software improvements. Hardware updates tell just 1 part of the thing. Let's see about software optimizations. At least the prices are gonna stay the same, that's not a bad thing. Apple increased the prices a lot in Europe...

Pixel 7 = new gpu , new front cam

pixels have always been so good, especially considering their prices.

excellent build quality, one of the fastest and most efficient chip sets, absolutely killer camera quality, has design changes each year that are not overwhelming, but are not the same thing as the last, full day battery life, and a handful of customization options, all for a price below $1000. Apple and Samsung should take a step in googles direction, they're killing the competition

pixel has become less of a standard smartphone and more of a way to express yourself as the years have gone on

Pricing seems seems decent, hopefully tensor 2 chip is better than first generation.

I think is a good thing that Google didn't increased the prices in Europe. This are basically the same prices like 6 series.
This should be a slap in the face for all those Apple fanboys who cited tax increases in Europe, dollar-euro parity and so on. Google is an American company like Apple, yet it seems only Apple had the right to increase prices in Europe. Lol.

I think an option facing some people including myself is

Pixel 6a or Pixel 7? Neither are really compact but even the Pixel 6 was a "fair size" compared to other offerings, its weight just made it seem so much bigger. So with the 7 likely a bit lighter on top of marginally smaller, I find it acceptable to pit against a 6a, whose boxy design lies about the fact it's any bigger than a Pixel 4.

I used quotes on the size because anything 6 and over is literally a phablet in case anyone forgot....

With specs mostly the same and a looming possibility it'll only match or even lose to the 6a in battery life, it's about as even a matchup as there is in the phone world.

The match is so close it comes down to design.
The 6a in Sage is sadly no winner. Like almost every other major phone manufacturer, there's only the same 5 colors and they're all washed out. The 6a in Chalk/white brings back the panda look. The 7 looks boring in both black and white, and the lemongrass/mint color option falls flat for being washed out just like the Sage. The 7 Pro's Hazel reminds me of the Cubot Max 3 green color with its more hazel green and gold frame n buttons. It's like an old person color. The 7 in its exclusive color looks the best out of all six choices, though. I feel like the black frame and camera bar should've been kept. It's what made Pixels so striking. The more bold colors in the 1st and 4th gen and the black frame n camera Really should've kept those elements. Can google do something smart? I think we all know that answer.

And I think I answered myself into the 6a.
